Bio:

Work Of Art was formed in 1992 when Herman and Robert met while they both attended SÖL school of music. They quickly took a liking in each others songwriting and soon started to record demos together. Herman brought along his friend Lars to play keyboard and sing backup. However, the task of finding a singer was harder than expected and band was temporarily laid on ice. Meanwhile, being exposed to a lot different styles of music while studying, Herman and Robert soon ended up in a lot of different projects that musically had very little in common with WOA. Upon graduating from school in 1995 the band went their separate ways. [1998-2000] In 1998 Herman brought up the idea to start recording again, this time with Lars on vocals. Being a bit reluctant at first, Robert soon changed his mind when he heard the first results of Lars singing their songs. During the following year the guys worked on a bunch of songs in Lars' Krater studio. Four songs made it to the mixing stage in summer of 1999. Only now, Lars became busy with other projects and suggested that the band should temporarily be put on hold for the time being. [2002-2007] Getting tired of waiting, Herman and Robert, recorded the basic tracks for 8 new songs and decided to look for a new vocalist. Once again, Lars was asked to help out, this time as a recording engineer. Lars invited the band to his studio for a drum recording session. Luckily, when Lars heard the new material, it didn't take long before he expressed his desire to sing with the band again.

Album:

"Artwork" is the debut album by Swedish AOR sensation "Work of Art", originally released in 2008 by Frontiers records to critical acclaim by fans of the gnere. The line up features lead singer Lars Safsund ("Lionville"), guitarist Robert Sall ("W.E.T.") and drummer Herman Furin.Although a newcomer group by 2008, without any live performances to this day, the members of "Work of Art" have been in and out of the melodic rock scene since 1992 therefore it should not come as big a surprise how accomplished their debut "Artwork" comes out. "Artwork" combines the best elements of American AOR and Scandinavian melodic rock into a one of the greatest AOR debuts of the decade. The guys combine the best elements of music giants like "Journey", "Toto" and "Styx" subsequently crafting an admirable collection of tunes; each song has clearly defined personality while the performances support the compositions to the greatest extent. For that matter you can expect to find groovy tempos, twin guitar leads, keyboard harmonies, piano melodies even guitar shredding, depending on the requirements of each track. It is more than evident that the trio has a clear vision of the way each song should come out but most importantly they are able to control the mood/atmosphere each composition delivers the listener. Favourite tracks include the guitar led "Peace of mind" the surprisingly upbeat "Her only lie", the keyboard driven "Too late", the progressive twist of "Whenever you sleep", the riff-based "Lost without your love", all of which are meant to convince event the most demanding AOR enthusiast. Last and above all, the opener "Why Do I" is amongst the most infectious melodic rockers ever that requires no more than a listen for one to mumble its chorus through the following days.

Album:

2011 album from the AOR/melodic Hard Rock band. Following the much acclaimed debut record Art Work, Work Of Art have not been resting on laurels. While main songwriter and guitarist Robert Sall contributed heavily to the success of the W.E.T. project with Jeff Scott Soto and Erik Martensson and singer Lars Safsund kept busy singing on other projects, Work Of Art have been working hard to create the foundations of another amazing piece of music. In Progress gives the Melodic Rock fans exactly what they're looking for, with songs that stick in the ears from the first second and amazing musical licks. The album shows three musicians who have matured a lot their abilities and gel together in a very natural way, presenting a sound which - still encompassing different influences - is now defined and recognizable as their own.

Album:

Since their arrival on the scene, Sweden’s WORK OF ART have built a strong dedicated fan base based on their classic old-meets-new AOR sound that shows you can still move forward while carrying a classic sound.I’ve got great news for fans. Their third album Framework is an absolute joy and might just be their best work yet.Quite simply this is a fabulous record once again packed with great songs, intelligent arrangements and some blindly good songs. The YouTube teaser previewed just two songs – Time To Let Go and Can’t Let Go, but there is another 9 tracks of equal appeal. The band has at times been compared to Toto, and on a song like Shout Till You Wake Up, you’ll hear these guys take on Toto’s heaviest progressive sound. And on Over The Line, the band delivers their most instant anthem yet.Framework has a heavier edge to it, more prominent guitars throughout, but still drenched in keyboards and sweet harmonies. And I truly believe these are some of the band’s most instantly likable songs."Framework" is the hot-awaited third album from the Swedish trio Work Of Art - An album, which was worked on for over 18 months, and which can be finally released to the hungry crowd of fans.Work Of Art started their debut in February 2008 with the release of "artwork". Coming from nowhere, struck the Album sent directly to the lovers of melodic rock music around the world. With a style inspired by Toto, Giant & Sound Journey, Work Of Art has quickly become one of the most promising newcomers of the genre. Shortly thereafter came WOA guitarist and main songwriter Robert Sall of the band WET with, together with Jeff Scott Soto and Erik Martensson from Eclipse, and was thus elevated to the Star-sky of the genre. As a consequence, the expectations for the successor to "In Progress" were very high. Work Of Art managed to meet these expectations, and reached the Swedish album chart at the beginning of the publication ranked 30 The next step was the band to perform live on stage. Her first appearance was in Madrid, Spain, in January 2012, this was followed by numerous other appearances across Europe. "Framework" is therefore the logical next step: an album that includes everything Work Of Art were able to create so far, and in addition a lot of unforgettable songs with strong melodies, and incredible instrumental power. This album is certainly Work Of Art's fastest and most direct album to date, but - as it should be - with some incredible soft moments.

Line-Up:

Lars Säfsund (vocals, keyboards)
Robert Säll (guitar)
Herman Furin (drums)

01. Time To Let Go
02. How Will I Know
03. Shout Till You Wake Up
04. Can't Let Go

Album:

“Exhibits” has been in the works for more than a year and a half, but will finally get unleashed to the legions of hungry melodic rock fans that this band has enraptured with their first three albums. "It’s been a long time indeed, five years”, says guitarist and producer Robert Sall. "Funny enough, it didn’t seem that way. Everyone in the band was busy doing his own thing and it wasn’t until mid-2017 when Serafino (Perugino, President Frontiers Records) asked us about our plans for a new album and it hit us that, it REALLY was about time. So we spent the better part of 2018 writing and recording it and here we are!” Work Of Art debuted in February 2008 with the release of their album “Artwork”. Coming out of nowhere, the album immediately struck a chord with melodic rock aficionados around the world. With a sound inspired by genre greats like Toto, Giant and Journey, Work Of Art quickly established themselves as one of the most promising newcomers in the genre. Soon after their debut, WOA guitarist and main composer Robert Sall joined W.E.T, the project featuring Jeff Scott Soto and Erik Martensson from Eclipse, thus immediately cementing his status as a star in the genre! Expectations for the follow-up album, “In Progress” were sky high. Work of Art lived up to the hype, entering the Swedish album charts at number 30 upon release of the album. The next step for the band was to start performing live, which they did for the first time in Madrid, Spain in January 2012 and followed that performance with several other shows in various European countries. Third album “Framework” followed in 2014 and kept the momentum going for the band which, simply put, became the top new AOR band from Europe.“Exhibits” is therefore the logical next step for WOA, an album which encompasses all that they have managed to create until now. Offering another bunch of unforgettable songs with soaring melodies (courtesy of singer Lars Säfsund) and amazing instrumental prowess (offered by Robert and Herman), "Exhibits" will thrill fans of the band and of the genre as a whole. "Like always, when Herman, Lars and I get together, it sounds like us, it sounds like Work Of Art,” tells Sall. "However, with this record I tried to bring out more old school AOR influences and get rid of some of the West Coast influences that were on our previous albums. I wanted it to be an AOR album, not a melodic rock album, not a West Coast album, just a classic AOR sounding album, start to finish!” Overall this is certainly Work Of Art’s most up-tempo and straight ahead album thus far, but – as it should be – some unbelievable softer moments are there as well. One notable highlight, legendary keyboard player Vince DiCola (author of the immortal “Training Montage” piece on the Rocky IV soundtrack) is a special guest on “This Isn’t Love.” "If I had to pick one favorite track it would be ”This Isn’t Love”, concludes Robert. "It’s definitely old school sounding, it’s catchy, yet there’s a lot of things going on composition and arrangement wise. It reminds me of a time when this kind of music was allowed to be musically interesting. Jim Peterik wrote some beautiful lyrics for it like only he can do, Shem von Schroeck plays bass and to top it off, it’s got an amazing solo by Vince DiCola. We asked Vince for a keyboard lead, he came back with a whole keyboard symphony! Easily one of the personal highlights for me on this album!” If you are an AOR fan, this is a record you simply cannot miss!
