Style : Melodic Hard Rock
Country : United States
Audio : 320 kbps + all scans
Size : 118 mb

Bio:

After leaving “King Kobra”, iconic singer Mark Free joined AOR/melodic rock outfit “Signal” subsequently recording the “Loud & Clear” album, which would since develop into a point of reference for melodic music. Released in 1989, “Signal-Loud & Clear”, signifies Mark’s departure from glam metal and the heavier rock genres to a subtler-melodic sound. The line up features guitarist Danny Jacob, bassist Eric Scott who also handles keyboards and drummer Jan Uvena along side Mark. Clearly the protagonist on “Loud & Clear” is Mark Free who delivers yet another divine vocal performance. For that matter, the more one plays the album, the more one gets the impression that the compositions of `Signal’ mainly serve as vehicle for Free’s singing. And the songs live up to the singer’s reputation, “Arms of a stranger”, “Does it feel like love”, “Go” and the protestant “Liar” are class-A AOR tunes.“Signal” sounds like the natural predecessor of the singers other projects such as “Unruly child” and “Long way from Love”. It has to be addressed that in contrast to some of Mark’s other works, `Signal’ is not an album to grab the listener and pin them to the wall with its musical quality; instead it will require an attentive listen of the album to fully appreciate the artistic value of “Loud and Clear”. Indeed amongst the greatest albums of US AOR.

Album:

"Loud & Clear", the only album recorded by super group SIGNAL, is a must have in your collection. And the best version available is this Axe Killer Records remaster, released when the label was changing its name to the current, Bad Reputation. It was a deluxe slip-case Limited Edition, numbered, now out of print.SIGNAL entered into the studio in January of 1989 with master producer Kevin Elson (Journey, Europe) to record "Loud & Clear", the one and only release by the band, a terrific set of emotional AOR tunes at its very best.A classic album of its genre and one of my personal favourite melody-driven records from the '80s.SIGNAL consisted of mega killer vocalist Mark/Marcie Free (King Kobra, Unruly Child), guitarist Danny Jacob (Sheena Easton, Marc Jordan), bassist Eric Scott (Alice Cooper) and drummer Jan Uvena (Alcatrazz)."Loud & Clear" is unfortunately another dreadful example of record company's poor business, not giving great bands any support nor promo. Sure, they were perhaps a couple of years late with their sound, but we're talking about 1989 for Christ's sake!!!They would definitely have sold multi-millions with the right push. Just look at the Bad English album from the same year and these songs are just as great. The vocals on this disc are really out of this world. A great singer is half of the album, a superb singer - priceless!!!All tracks are great - just 10 to aoid filler - being among the my favs 'Does It Feel Like Love','Wake Up You Little Fool','You Won't See Me Cry', 'This Love,This Time', and 'Arms Of a Stranger'.There's tons of heavenly melodies in there, a real epitome for what is true '80s AOR, sweet and velvety.Free sings so fine you'll not escape to his charm, the instrumentation is simply stupendous, with nicely put riffs interacting with some superb keys …all these destined to compile a grand set of tunes. This Axe Killer Records remaster is the best version you can get of this essential AOR record. There was a second limited edition re-issue, but out of print as well with used copies being sold at ridiculous prices. (avoid the Krescendo Records reissue, it's horrible)"Loud & Clear" is what perfect mellow AOR is all about. Absolute Classic for me.

Jan Uvena - drums, percussion

Album:

After the recent SIGNAL only studio album featured here in its remastered form, one of you requested this "Signal Live", a private release done by Marcie Free herself some time ago and only available via her website. The album is out of print since many years, and it's a must have for Signal and Mark / Marie Free fans, and a collector's item for all melodic rock aficionados. There were few gigs presenting Signal's album Loud & Clear, and while the sound quality of this "Signal Live" isn't the best in the world, the recording is a great testimony of how good the band was.Just check 'Does It Feel Like Love'... wow, there is an obvious chemistry between Free and the band, a superb group of musicians.Additionally, we find here a previously unreleased song, 'Nobody Gets Out Alive' (performed live), one of the several composed by the band that didn't make it into the studio album final tracklist.I think that with "Signal Live" Marcie Free wanted to give fans - requesting at her website some unreleased Signal material - some kind of a farewell album, and while the recording quality could be better, this CD is one to treasure. And as our blog always give to you a plus, there's as bonus 5 demo songs, some with really good quality.Album recorded live in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 17, 1990.
