Despite having big names involved, the album was not a success.Mayo and Ramos moved on to the band Bad Moon Rising. Mayo also continued with the band Burning Rain. Reece formed the band Sircle of Silence before disappearing from the music scene. Curt Mitchell now is a guitar teacher in Nevada and has his own guitar site.2010, talks of a reunion resurfaced with Reece being the driving force. John Kirk, Ian Mayo, and Jackie Ramos declined offers to join the band again, but Curt Mitchell accepted as well as original bassist Danny Greenberg. These three original members, along with new guitarist Andy Susemihl (formerly of U.D.O.) and drummer Hans in 't Zandt, made a new Bangalore Choir album in spring and summer of 2010, called Cadence. The album was released on September 23, 2010 through German label AOR Heaven. In November 2011, David Reece's Facebook page stated vocals were completed on a new Bangalore Choir album. This new album "Metaphor" was released in April 2012.

Album:

Some time ago AOR Heaven Records reissued BANGALORE CHOIR's album "On Target", remastered and with a slightly 'refreshed' artwork. What a great time for melodic hard rock music 1992 was... Danger Danger had just released their best work in 'Screw It!', Kiss returns from the ashes with the good 'Revenge', House Of Lords with maybe their best disc 'Demons Down', blasting new albums from Unruly Child, Fair Warning, Robin Beck... and the release of this underrated melodious hard rocker disc by BANGALORE CHOIR.Unfortunately, "On Target" was released in 1992, at the dawn of the grunge movement – during a time where hard rock acts would soon be swept on the back burner. The band featured amazing frontman David Reece which voice is a blend of late '80s David Coverdale with Jeff Scott Soto, the great ex-Razormaid axeman Curt Mitchell and the tight rhythm section by Dan Greenberg and Derek Thomas whom actually recorded the album, although credited as 'additional musicians'.Production duties were shared by noted studio gurus Max Norman and James "Jimbo" Barton."Angel In Black" will grab your attention instantly. This Autograph unreleased track penned by Steve Plunkett was enhanced with the Bangalore's uplifting rhythm, and somehow turned out to be surprisingly awesome."Loaded Gun" is the band's MTV-hit track, a great melodic bliss commercial midtempo ala Damn Yankees with a late 80's Whitesnake vibe, co-written with another expertise in this matter; Ricky Phillips (Bad English)."If The Good Die Young" is really a wonderful power ballad, one of Bangalore Choir's strongest tracks full of emotion. "Doin' The Dance" (written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova) is a bouncy rocker with great vocals, while the raucous "All Or Nothin' " sounds exactly like a Whitesnakes' Slip Of The Tongue tune, with a sick guitar tone."Slippin' Away" is one of their best tracks sounding like King Kobra including a great hook, then last track, "Just One Night" is also a melodious rock gem with an unbelievably majestic chorus.Bangalore Choir's debut is a sanctuary for melodic ears, a killer collection of catchy commercial hard rock that would have made them legends in the Los Angeles music scene and beyond. All songs had hit potential written all over them and should have been played over rock radio endlessly. This album was criminally overlooked at his time, so if "On Target" is still missing in your collection, then make sure you finally get it now, perfectly remastered by the skilled Martin Kronlund.

Album:

Today we bring to you in exclusive early ’90s hard rock band BANGALORE CHOIR 3xCD box set “All Or Nothing – The Complete Studio Albums”. This set brings together all three of the band’s studio albums “On Target”, “Cadence” and “Metaphor” completely remastered plus fifteen bonus tracks in total.Formed by ex- ACCEPT, future BONFIRE and currently successful solo artist David Reece and named after a type of torpedo, BANGALORE CHOIR included Ian Mayo and Jackie Ramos – both former members of the Atlantic Records signed HERICANE ALICE – so their melodic hard rock debut delivered a mature set of kick ass songs performed by experienced musicians and written by the best in the business like Jon Bon Jovi, Aldo Nova, Steve Plunkett, Ricky Phillips, etc.All the three albums just oozes class, and the sound quality is clean and powerful. When considering a list of all the known pop metal, melodic metal and hair metal bands, it’s possible the name Bangalore Choir may not bob to the top. It’s a shame really, because their sole album from their early days, 1992’s On Target, may have hit the scene a little too late after these genres’ 1980s heyday, otherwise it was good enough to have competed with the likes of Kiss, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi et al.The Californian band was formed by vocalist David Reece, whose profile had been raised when he served as a surprise replacement for Udo Dirkschneider as front man for German speed metal merchants Accept – surprising because UK singer Rob Armitage appeared to have landed the role, having appeared in several interviews and promo shoots, and even performed live with the band. It didn’t pan out however, and it was Reece who performed on Accept’s 1989 album Eat The Heat.Reece has a great voice, rich and powerful, dropping into David Coverdale territory from time to time, while retaining enough of a raspy edge to underline his rock credentials. He then formed Bangalore Choir, who recorded their debut album ‘On Target’ with Ian Mayo on bass and Jackie Ramos on drums, (both from Hericane Alice, Burning Rain), and the dual guitar attack of Curt Mitchell and John Kirk (both from Razor Maid). The album powers in with Angel In Black, a corking, commercial rocker about the stereotypical bad girl, which could have come straight from the Bon Jovi songbook. If The Good Die Young (We’ll Live Forever) is an anthemic, slow, melodic rock number that arguably should have been a classic of the glam metal genre, while Doin’ The Dance (co-written by Jon Bon Jovi), nevertheless presented a funkier front, more reminiscent of Extreme.Hold On To You begins with some nice acoustic arpeggios before presenting another big, anthemic chorus and some harmony guitars. The twin guitars offer some great moments throughout the album, not least on the driving pop-rocker Slippin’ Away, and the staccato, thudding Freight Train Rollin’ .‘On Target’ is bold and brash and benefits from a bombastic production and on the evidence of this record Bangalore Choir really should have hit the big league. The album failed to make much of an impact, perhaps because the genre already had its well-established big names by that time, and the mainstream had started to push in other directions in any case. The band folded, and Reece went on to join Sircle Of Silence and perform on a number of other projects including a solo album in 2009, before the call went out to reform Bangalore Choir nearly 20 years after its previous incarnation. The drum stool was taken by experienced German Hans in’t Zandt, and Reece landed Danny Greenberg on bass, (who had been in the original line-up before Ian Mayo), and Curt Mitchell on guitar once again, this time alongside producer/guitarist Andy Susemihl. This line-up went on to release the studio album ‘Cadence’ in 2010, which effectively carried on where On Target had left off, with the same melodic sensibilities. After an extended intro, this set once again powers into a great, melodic but rocking number called Power Trippin’. Reece’s voice is still excellent, and the guitar sounds, both rhythm and lead, benefit from updated and improved production and some genuine shredding speed.Survival Of The Fittest with its angry, shouted vocals, nevertheless betrays some notable Coverdale influence, while Heartattack And Vine presents a steamroller riff from the heavier end of the Def Leppard range. Sweet Temptation is a classic melodic pop-rocker, straight from Kiss, Bon Jovi, or even early Whitesnake; the highlight of this track is a gorgeous but short wah solo over open chords. Another album highlight is the mid-tempo High On The Clouds, which swings between hard rock and a catchy hook. The same line-up went on to record the band’s final album to date, 2012’s Metaphor. Although keeping much the same melodic rock aesthetic, this one has a notably rockier, harder-edged tone.Once again it kicks off on a strong number with the fast, blues minor key riffage of All The Damage Done. Talking of blues, the second guitar solo in the title track is very reminiscent of Joe Bonamassa, but in fact the twin guitars are used to excellent effect in both rhythm and lead parts, with imaginative rhythm riffs, and both answerback and harmony duets. Some excellent variation is introduced with the resonator acoustics of Never Trust Ole Joe Alone, with its thudding kick drum and added harmonica. It keeps threatening to take off into a standard rocker, but insistently continues as a folksy blues, even ending on a bit of solo harp. The album ends with Always Be My Angel, which kicks off with a fast harmony guitar intro recalling Gary Moore’s stint with Thin Lizzy, although the song veers more towards Boston territory after that, then Bon Jovi for the choruses. It’s difficult to argue with that kind of company, and it’s a pity that Bangalore Choir didn’t make more inroads into the business.“All Or Nothing – The Complete Studio Albums” is an excellent scope of Bangalore Choir complete discography, a great band which music has stood the test of time. Each disc is rounded off by an informative one-minute chat from David Reece himself, giving a little background to each album and a run-down of the band members on each.

Album:

Hard rockers BANGALORE CHOIR are releasing ”Beyond Target : Alternate Mixes, Rarities and Demos”, including a bunch of rarities ranging from self-taped demos and tracks done in the at Stevie Nick’s personal studio as well as some at A&M studios. It’s quite a funny story as some of the tracks were recorded over U2’s ‘The Joshua Tree’ pre-production demos tapes. There’s also remixes from BANGALORE CHOIR’s album ‘On Target’, originally done in the early ’90s at Skip Saylor and the Enterprise Studios, and after years of wondering where these lost tracks were, the band found them through an old friend. All these found remixed tracks were carefully remastered for this release, lost gems for BANGALORE CHOIR, David Reece and general late ’80s / early Nineties hard rock fans.Reece said: “I remain very proud of this history and am so very happy to give these lost tracks life again”.

These three original members, along with new guitarist Andy Susemihl (formerly of U.D.O.) and drummer Hans in 't Zandt, made a new Bangalore Choir album in spring and summer of 2010, called Cadence. Album:

Back in the early 90s this band should probably have done a lot better with their debut that had names like Jon Bon Jovi among the writers. But they didn’t! Fast forward to 2010 and they reformed to release a new album and here is their third, appearing just a little quicker. The album was recorded in three separate locations and then mixed at the first of them. There’s a fairly bluesy feel to much of this in no small part down to the vocals of David Reece. But it doesn’t mean there isn’t space for some swirling guitar work as shown on opener “All The Damage Done” as well as a couple of other tracks. There’s also room for something a little edgier on “Silhouettes On The Shade” before the country feel of “Never Face Ole Joe Alone” heads off in a new direction.Throughout there is a mature feel to this that is dripping with tight skills. It suggests it was worth them all getting together to give it a try with a sprinkling of new band mates and as an album is ahead of many of its closer rivals. If you are looking for something reliable but with a little bit of something extra then this is a definite album to seek out. This is a straight forward rock album as simple as that, not such much of a differ between this one and "Candence" in music quality i guess..."All The Damage Done","Trojan Horse","Don't Act Surprised","Catch An Angel Fallin'","Fools Gold" & "Always Be My Angel" are my faves !

Bio:

Bangalore Choir is an American hard rock band formed in 1991. They were formed by the former frontman of Accept, David Reece, and guitarists Curt Mitchell and John Kirk (both formerly of Razor Maid). Joining them from Hericane Alice, was bassist Ian Mayo and Jackie Ramos on drums, future members of the band Bad Moon Rising with Whitesnake/Dio guitarist Doug Aldrich and Lion/Tytan vocalist Kal Swann. Their debut album was produced by Max Norman, and featured songs co written by Jon Bon Jovi and Aldo Nova. Album:

Bangalore Choir is back full force and ready to rock our worlds once again.Ok, don't expect a new 'On Target' No. 2, that was then and this is now after 18years.'Cadence' isn't as catchy as the debut was but it's more mature and it rocks hard too! I have to admit that after all these years I was hoping for a 'On Target No2' because their debut is one of my favourite albums which is played regularly in my cd player. But I have to stop saying about the past and focus on this new great album. 'Power Trippin'' is a punchy guitar driven track with some really aggressive vocals from Mr. Reece. A huge hard rockin' tune. 'Martyr ' is a bit more commercial song and one of my favourites from 'Cadence'. 'Tomorrow' starts with some really heavy riffs, big pounding drums and Reece's powerfull vocals. A heavier tune without loosing its melodies. ' Sweet Temptation' is a very good melodic hard rock tune while 'High On the Clouds' and 'Spirits Too the Bleed' are "difficult" tunes but overall nice rockin' songs. Overall this is a very good comeback from Bangalore Choir. Maybe their sound is more updated and harder at parts but for sure this album will please all of their fans that have waited for so long.Interestingly David informs songs had been written for a followup back then which he'd hoped to include on the recent On Target re-release, but to no avail. Better late than never, we have a followup and while I completely agree it mostly treads different ground to its predecessor, there's plenty familiar BC to enjoy. The songs are strong and to these ears this is a healthy blend of BC and Reece solo (Universal Language), David bringing the band into 2010 with a more raw sound. I don't rate quite every song but the majority of this one kicks and Cadence is one of the strongest melodicrock releases of late. Great to finally have this band back and of course David Reece brings the real strength to the album, those wonderful vocals complete this package, the man sounding as good as he did back when! Highly recommended!
