Bio:

Britny Fox is an American glam metal band from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, initially active from 1985 to 1992 then subsequently reforming from 2000 to 2008 and then again reforming in 2015. They are best known for their music video for "Girlschool" and their minor hit "Long Way to Love" (U.S. No. 100).In short, most every hard rock fan of the "hair band" genre knows who Britny Fox is. And most fans of the band knows that the band formed in Philadelphia back in 1986, and was fronted by vocalist/rhythm guitarist "Dizzy" Dean Davidson. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1988 which was very successful and sold over a million copies. During that time, vocalist/rhythm guitarist, "Dizzy" Dean Davidson, lead guitarist, Michael Kelly Smith, bass guitarist, Billy Childs, and drummer, Johnny Dee toured extensively in support of the album. Shortly after the release of their second album, Boys In Heat Davidson left the band for good.In 1990, and after several days of auditioning, Davidson was replaced by vocalist/rhythm guitarist, Tommy Paris. Paris brought new ideas and high energy to the band which resulted in the 1991 release of their third album, Bite Down Hard. Although Bite Down Hard is one of the bands best albums ever released, it didn't do as well as expected due to the grunge movement of that era, and Britny Fox disbanded in 1992.Britny Fox reunited with the same line-up in 2000 and released their fourth album, titled Springhead Motorshark in 2003, before disbanding again shortly after. In 2007, bass guitarist Billy Childs reformed the band under new management and toured through 2007-2008 before disbanding yet again for various reasons. In late 2014, Billy Childs, Tommy Paris and original drummer Johnny Dee united to reform the Bite Down Hard era lineup. Original lead guitarist, Michael Kelly Smith expressed no interest in the band and touring again so he has been replaced by Chris Sanders.Britny Fox is back once again and ready to rock. The band is currently writing for a new album, and plans to book and perform select dates only at this time.

Album:

Remastered double-pack of the first self-titled album "Britny Fox" and Boys In Heat, released by prestigious UK label Cherry Red though their IronBird division. One of the brighter debuts to emerge in the late '80s, Britny Fox's self-titled album established themselves early on as hard-hitting contenders for the Hair Metal crown.Often labeled clones of sister band Cinderella - whence they got their image, their guitar player Michael Kelly Smith, and record contract - the quartet overcame expectations by filling their first album with song after song of top-flight '80s glam. The boys each play to their strengths here, which results in killer riffs and licks from Kelly Smith and impassioned howling from Dizzy Dean Davidson.Let's face it, it's hard not to grin when a song like 'Girlschool' is playing, and the band's first single 'Long Way to Love' is one of the greatest hair metal anthem of all time.'Fun in Texas' indeed packs a lot of fun, 'Don't Hide' is killer kick ass rocker, we have more stadium-like choruses on 'Rock Revolution',The band's cover of Slade's 'Gudbuy T' Jane' is a fun addition, while 'Save The Weak' is the ballad of the album, a substantius composition. This Cherry Red / IronBird "Britny Fox" remastered reissue features a pair of bonus tracks: the first is the single edit of 'Long Way to Love', and the second the original B-side of that single; 'Livin' On The Edge', another killer Britny Fox hard rocker that deserved to be part of the main album.Britny Fox's debut is an essential piece into any serious Melodic Hard Rock / Hair Metal collection, and a true representation of the second half of the '80s.

Album:

Remastered double-pack of the first self-titled album and "Boys In Heat", released by prestigious UK label Cherry Red though their IronBird division.Produced by the expertise hands of master Neil Kernon, "Boys In Heat" is the second album by Philadelphia-based Britny Fox, released in 1989.After their hard rocking debut, the band added a much higher dose of melody to this second effort plus an extremely polished sound / production according to the era: 1989.It's a more mature Britny Fox, with that 'big sounding' acoustic guitars / clean electrics into the mix.The melodic drive of each song on "Boys In Heat" never ceases from the opening track "In Motion". This album epitomizes the Hair Metal / US Melodic Hard Rock on every track, a feel-good record from start to end.Dizzy Dean's powerhouse vocals are clean and more melodious, while Michael Kelly Smith on lead guitar is as cool as they come, his guitar licks are impressive on "Boys In Heat". The album does not lack in the powered up lead and solo department thanks to him."Standing in the Shadows" and "Angel in My Heart" are really catchy singles reminiscent of the first album, and "Dream On" is one of the few power ballads fromt that time that manages to avoid sounding like Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn."She’s So Lonely" and "Left Me Stray" are perhaps the cuts that more retain the hair metal party, while the cover of Nazareth's classic "Hair of the Dog" is a nice touch, rockin' and rollin'."Boys In Heat" showcases a more 'polished' side of Britny Fox, still including some fierce hard rockers. It's a 'hugely produced' record so in vogue at the end of the '80s and I love it.This Cherry Red remaster is punchy, perhaps a bit loud but everything comes clear out of the speakers. One of the last true hair metal albums recorded in the golden days of the genre.

Album:

Live album recorded during a reunited Britney Fox mini-tour in mid 2000. 14 live tracks including 'Girlschool' and 'Long Way To Love'. Standard jewelcase. 2001 release.Britny Fox has long been known as one of the many "hair bands" of the 1980's metal scene. But unlike a lot of the other "hair bands," which is a phrase I absolutely hate, Britny Fox never had a top smashing ballad or an inescapable tune that consumed you no matter where you turned. Britny Fox was not a monstrous hair band, but this album makes me wonder just why not.Sadly, my years on this Earth are too few to really recall the wonder that was the 80's as well as I'd like to. But this album really does rock like no band today can. I like music that's a tad old for my age, but I like music that rocks appropriately and doesn't treat the fans like we're stupid. I like rock and roll that makes me feel good about me and forget all the down sounding moans of the grunge genre. I am, as Manowar would say, a brother of true Metal and this album is true Metal if you ask me.From the first track "Six Guns Loaded," the blazing sounds of extremely powerful vocals and a blazing guitar really consumes you and fills you with energy. At no point in the album does that energy leave you and all the great Britny Fox classics like Girlschool, Long way to Love, Dream On, and Lonely Too Long are all on there and I assure you that if you thought the studio version of these songs were head banging tunes, you have to hear how they sound live because it's twice as powerful and twice as good.Sure, Britny Fox may not be a household name and maybe they never were as big as Poison or Bon Jovi, but they rock just as hard and just as long and I, the owner of a Heavy Metal website, am proud to promote Britny Fox as one of my favorite bands and this as one of my favorite albums. If you like rock, metal, or are just looking to sample some good music, this is the one for you.

Album:

This album contains music transferred from analog signal, which has been stored on tape for approximately three to four decades. This album may contain anomalies that exist within the analog recordings. The band and label have decided to include these recordings to preserve the historical significance.

Imagine an artist painting on many canvasses in his quest to achieve a level of quality he feels enthusiastic about. He throws away many paintings he views as sub-standard and begins anew with fresh ideas and inspirations. His act of creating, musing and discarding are powerful cathartic processes leading to proficiency, confidence and fulfillment. He never intends on showing these rejected paintings to anyone. He is pleased to have experienced the discarded works as a purge, never imagining anyone seeing what he views as rubbish. These demos came from a group of countless songs written in the fall and winter of 1990. Most were discarded as fleeting bits of inspiration; unrefined and purposefully incomplete. After months of writing, recording demos and listening to a mountain of material, including songs written for us by L.A. and New York songwriters, we settled on the final 10 songs to be included on “Bite Down Hard.” Those chosen tunes began as raw demos created from scratch on an inexpensive Tascam 4-track and went on to be recorded in the full-blown facilities at Devonshire and One on One Studios in North Hollywood where Metallica recorded the “Black Album.”What I enjoy about songwriting is it’s unrestrained creativity which is then groomed, gleaned, and refined to the final imposition of an officially stamped conclusion. The inspiration comes from all of these stages existing chronologically as a bound and determined crusade. It’s a deep cultivation and although laborious at times, there’s nothing like it. I’m currently writing songs for a brand new album and the quest for ever greater songs continues…

After months of writing, recording demos and listening to a mountain of material, including songs written for us by L.A. and New York songwriters, we settled on the final 10 songs to be included on “Bite Down Hard.” Those chosen tunes began as raw demos created from scratch on an inexpensive Tascam 4-track and went on to be recorded in the full-blown facilities at Devonshire and One on One Studios in North Hollywood where Metallica recorded the “Black Album.”

Album:

Rock Candy has remastered & reloaded one of the brighter debuts to emerge in the late ’80s melodic hard rock glam scene; BRITNY FOX‘s self-titled album “Britny Fox“. This classic record from the era established themselves early on as hard-hitting contenders for the Hair Metal crown. Often labeled clones of sister band Cinderella – whence they got their image, their guitar player Michael Kelly Smith, and record contract – the quartet overcame expectations by filling their first album with song after song of top-flight ’80s glam. The boys each play to their strengths here, which results in killer riffs and licks from Smith and impassioned howling from Dizzy Dean Davidson. This fresh remaster comes kickin’ n’ punchy, bass defined and overall speaker-killer.Some people have always kept the music of Britny Fox at arms length. Others, however, fully embraced the band from the very start of their existence. The antipathy some felt wasn’t because of the music but more about their initial look; a particularly flamboyant trip into the realms of regal costume from the 17th Century. It was, it must be said, a major development from the regular post glam rock look fashionable at the time yet, in its own way, it provided their loyal audience with a unique twist on the hair metal style that was riding high at the time.Formed in Philadelphia during the mid ‘80s, the band’s roots were linked to an early incarnation of future platinum sellers Cinderella. Playing all the same clubs, Britny recorded an impressive, cassette only, album titled ‘In America’ that soon attracted attention both locally and, surprisingly, internationally. The result of this success attracted label interest, resulting in signing to Columbia records and the release of this, their John Jansen produced debut album.Issued in 1988 the record made an immediate impact with not only the public but also the hard rock taste makers. The band’s riffs and low-slung musical swagger attracted impressive sales and paved the way to supporting Poison on a mammoth North American tour, playing to large and packed venues.Let’s face it, it’s hard not to grin when a song like ‘Girlschool’ is playing, and the band’s first single ‘Long Way to Love’ is one of the greatest hair metal anthem of all time. ‘Fun in Texas’ indeed packs a lot of fun, ‘Don’t Hide’ is killer kick ass rocker, we have more stadium-like choruses on ‘Rock Revolution’,The band’s cover of Slade’s ‘Gudbuy T’ Jane’ is a fun addition, while ‘Save The Weak’ is the ballad of the album, a strong, solid composition.Britny Fox’s debut is an essential piece into any serious Melodic Hard Rock / Hair Metal collection, and a true representation of the second half of the ’80s sound.

Album:

One of the most amazing rocking albums from the terrific 1989 years is without a doubt “Boys In Heat“, the Philadelphia glam metal gods BRITNY FOX sophomore opus. Now it has been reissued by Rock Candy Records specialists with a fully remastered audio. After their hard rocking debut, the band added a much higher dose of melody to this second effort plus an extremely polished sound production according to the era, courtesy of the expertise hands of master Neil Kernon. It’s a more mature Britny Fox, with that ‘big sounding’ acoustic guitars / clean electrics into the mix, a bombastic rhythm section and oversized vocals / choruses. The melodic drive of each song on “Boys In Heat” never ceases from the opening track “In Motion”. This album epitomizes the Hair Metal / US Melodic Hard Rock on every track, a feel-good record from start to end.Dizzy Dean’s powerhouse vocals are clean and more melodious, while Michael Kelly Smith on lead guitar is as cool as they come, his guitar licks are impressive on “Boys In Heat”. The album does not lack in the powered up lead and solo department thanks to him.“Standing in the Shadows” and “Angel in My Heart” are really catchy singles reminiscent of the first album, and “Dream On” is one of the few power ballads from that time that manages to avoid sounding like Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn. She’s So Lonely” and “Left Me Stray” are perhaps the cuts that more retain the hair metal party, while the cover of Nazareth’s classic “Hair of the Dog” is a nice touch, rockin’ and rollin’.“Boys In Heat” showcases a more ‘polished’ side of Britny Fox, still including some fierce hard rockers. It’s a hugely produced record with that kind of big sound from the end of the ’80s factory. One of the last true glam / hair metal albums recorded in the golden days of the genre.
