Bio:

OUTLOUD began with Greek guitar player Tony Kash taking lessons from Firewind's Bob Katsionis. They began to write songs together and in late 2007 / early 2008, started to solidify these ideas into an album format and eventually got in touch with NYC-based singer Chandler Mogel, who Bob had met previously on a Firewind tour of the States.Chandler was flown to Athens and Tony contracted his friend Jason Mercury to play bass, and in turn Bob brought on board Mark Cross, also from the band Firewind at the time, to play drums. The five of them started to jam over the existing ideas and added the final arrangements and finishing touch to Outloud’s music and in September 2008 the band entered Basement Studio in Athens and recorded their debut album. Mixed and mastered by none other than Tommy Hansen (Helloween, TNT, Pretty Maids), the album was described by the press as "a mixture of Riot’s Fire Down Under, Skid Row's debut album and TNT’s Tell No Tales with some Foreigner melodic elements."The album was released by Frontiers in August 2009 to rave reviews worldwide and ended up on many top ten lists by year's end, and the album was voted "Best Album of the Year" in BW&BK/Bravewords.com. Sverd T. Soth (Bare Infinity) replaced Jason Mercury on bass shortly after the release. Both video clips of their singles We Run and Tonite (2010), which together have since garnered well over 100,000 views on Youtube, were directed by Bob. "We Run" ranked #3 in Greek Metal Hammer's 2009 reader's polls in the BEST VIDEO CLIP category as well as being in regular rotation on MTV in Greece. It also ended up getting a spot on the esteemed German Metal Hammer Magazine DVD compilation. The song landed “Track of the Day” on Classic Rock Magazine’s website on June 26th, 2009, and was also included on a handful of notable CD compilations such as MelodicRock.com and Rock Hard.Outloud, having sold over 5,000 units of their debut CD worldwide, made a successful headline tour of Greece in December '09 (sponsored by Jack Daniels) and a companion national Greek TV appearance in front of more than 1 million viewers. 2010 saw the band playing more live shows in their native country and returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. The band inked a brand new deal with AOR Heaven for their second release, which was recorded in Athens, Greece during the summer of 2010 and once again produced by Bob and mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen. The band released it's second effort, Love Catastrophe, in July of 2011. Much like it's predecessor, it was released to rave reviews from the press and was mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, TNT). The band released a video for the single, Waiting For Your Love, opened for rock legends Twisted Sister in Athens during this time and the song "We Came To Rock" landed a spot on the July issue of Classic Rock presents AOR - Raised on Radio compilation. Additionally, the band was featured on the front cover of Greek Metal Hammer Magazine in August. As 2011 came to a close, the band was voted #4 "Best Greek Band" of the year in Greek Metal Hammer, and the band released via the internet a surprise single, an original Christmas song entitled "The Last Days of December".Now as 2012 begins, the band announces the release of More Catastrophe, a six-song EP which contains three brand new songs plus a few surprises. The EP will be available at their upcoming shows in Greece, as well as in stores and digitally across Europe via AOR Heaven. Says Chandler, "We wanted to give the fans a little something extra this time around. These songs pick up where the last album left off and at the same time serve as a road sign as to where we're going. Hopefully this will hold everyone over until the third album is ready, which we're currently beginning to work on."

Album:

Greek/American rockers Outloud are back with album number three, good to see the guys keeping momentum flowing with short gaps between albums. And I’m pleased to say they help keep momentum going by delivering consistently good records that are thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. I wasn’t a fan of their last EP release, but the studio albums to date have all been excellent. This is no exception. The almost Spinal Tap-influenced opening hard rocker Death Rock! would be laughable delivered by any other band, but when it’s from these guys, it just works. The double kick drum flurry and catchy chorus “we’re gonna rock you to death” is pure hard rock heaven. The album flows beautifully into the more melodic I Was So Blind, and back to the more urgent One More Time – both songs delving choruses that can’t be ignored. The moody Bury The Knife offers another side of the band, the passive aggressive track turning outwardly aggressive towards the end, very cool. And so it continues. Most of the album presents as uptempo melodic rock mixing with hard rock, but always there’s a melody, a guitar solo and a chorus.Things only slow down for the acoustic ballad It Really Doesn’t Matter, but then it’s straight back into the uptempo anthemic (and quite awesome) Another Kind of Angel.Other highlights include the fast moving A While To Go and the furious but melodic Toy Soldiers (featuring guitar god Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob). And to close, the band throws in a rocked up and stylized cover of OMD’s Enola Gay. It suits the band and it fits the album. Nicely done.

Album:

"Ep" with 4 new songs and a couple of re-arranged ones...about the newies well they have kept the same formula of their previous songs, good catchy Melodic Rock with some kind of "home made mark" which has functioned on them quite well...the best cut outta the new ones for me is "Cross The Line" but the rest of the songs offer interesting moments such as the 2 rockers "Saints On Fire" & "Mr Long Gone"...I remember quite vividly actually what came over me when I listened to the multinational group of OUTLOUD. Not they brought something new to the Hard Rock / Metal scenes, yet the way they did it and their own vision of the core roots of the mixture, was the ultimate thing. Though I was knocked out by their exciting debut album, then released via Frontiers Records, I haven't had the chance yet to get acquainted with their sophomore release of "Love Catastrophe". Nonetheless, I got their new EP, "More Catastrophe", digitally released by AOR Heaven, which marks a sort of continuance for the album with brand new material plus extras following cool features that will probably be appreciated by both fans and new listeners.OUTLOUD's flowing musical image of a Hard N' Heavy band also played out well from this time. Their songs are simple, highly accessible, wonderfully produced once again by their guitarist / Producer / Keys' man, Bob Katsionis, and practically a hit machine potential. Nonetheless, their, what can be considered as utter catchy approach or some might even call it Popish figure, identity as a partially Metal band remained alive and well. The first three tracks of the album are what I call the heavy hitters all sharing the fine mix of old school Hard Rock and Metal. "Cross The Line" was my little star among the three though the other two were also energetic and fun to listen. The fourth track, which has already served the band as a special single for Christmas, "Last Days Of December", is an absolute beauty. At first I didn't know that it was even related to the holiday and I considered it as a touchy and well performed power ballad by the book. "Falling Rain", coming at no. five, a song that was taken from the latest album has been given a new template of something that sounded like Flamenco music. I can't say I liked nor disliked it, yet it was pretty different but cool. "We Run", a hit from the debut that I personally liked, along with the smashing "Broken Sleep", was performed by piano and vocals only. The last time I heard this strategy of pulling out a piano version was with BON JOVI's "It’s My Life", a mediocre track at best. However, OUTLOUD took a truly great song and provided it to the fans with a different yet inspiring lookout.First of all you must acquire this release available through AOR Heaven. It is not just me that said that OUTLOUD is a great band. You can check out what is going on around them. "More Catastrophe" is a must for both core fans and new listeners. If you wanted the 80s, all you have to do is ask and invest.

Album:

2009 release from the melodic Hard Rockers.Outloud was formed in 2008 featuring Firewind members Bob Katsionis (keyboards, guitar) and Mark Cross (drums). However, the band's history dates back to 2004 in Athens, Greece when young Tony Kash started taking guitar lessons from Katsionis. Tony soon appeared to be a kid born to rock and was constantly coming up with some great riffs that led Bob to record those to demos, which turned out to be really good material with catchy tunes. A strong melodic voice was soon needed! Bob remembered someone he once met in New York during one of Firewind's US tours who seemed to be the right guy: Chandler Mogel, formerly of Talon. OUTLOUD is a brand new Greek-American melodic metal band with strong 80s influences. Clearly this collaboration is probably the biggest surprise in the genre of melodic Hard Rock-Metal for 2009 as it brings together some of the greatest musicians from the US and Greece; FIREWIND's Bob Katsionis (keys-guitars) and Mark Cross (drums) join forces with the voice of TALON Chandler Mogel. The line up is completed by Greek newcomers Tony Kash (guitars) and Jason Mercury (bass). The result is top notch melodic hard rock/metal with strong references to 80s.Clearly the release does not feature the flamboyant guitar work and aggressive rhythm section of FIREWIND yet it is nothing but full of the catchiest choruses and infectious melodies one can find in a release of this kind. Tracks like "Tonight", "We run" and "Breathing Fire" are prime examples of good time rock and party metal. As both FIREWIND and TALON are personal favorites it was pure excitement to find an album that brings to front such collaboration. This album is an absolute must for any fan of FIREWIND or TALON since the musicians live up to their reputation, capable of producing relevant output outside of the comfort zone of their original bands."Rockhard" Greek magazine (issue 45) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "This is easily one of the best albums of 2009 for the genre of melodic metal"."Metal Hammer" Greek magazine (issue 297) also marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "The perfect soundtrack for your saturday night out!"

Album:

Considering their name it was apt that the self titled Outloud album arrived with a bang. Not only was the music prime-time, glitzy and hard hitting melodic rock, but the fact the band contained musicians more renowned for metal of a far harder variety also caught a lot of people off guard. With Firewind guitarist Bob Katsionis, ex-Talon singer Chandler Mogul, and ex Firewind sticksmith Mark Cross on board, the expectation was that Outloud would follow a similar power laden path. However, the brainchild of Tony Kash, who was one of Katsionis's guitar pupils, Outloud followed a road influenced more by the likes of TNT, Europe, or Brother Firetribe, with bristling, melodic riffs that jostle with layers of keyboards and Mogul's striking clear vocals. The band's line up on that sizzling debut effort was completed by bassist Jason Mercury who departed not long after the album was released, being replaced by ex Bare Infinity four-stringer Sverd T. Soth.Right from the off, that Outloud debut was an unashamed nod to the past glories of melodic rock and with the sound of a stylus hitting vinyl introducing a jocular, gruff voice exclaiming "Alright you lassies, let's see some asses shaking!", there's no need to elaborate that Love Catastrophe follows in a similar, up and at 'em vein. Yes the lyrics may all be clichd and well worn, with song titles like "We Came To Rock", "Waiting For Your Love" and "Love Catastrophe", but as a joyous escape this album hits all the right spots and leaves you grinning at the harmony vocals, finger flurrying solos and stomp along celebrations. Guitarist Katsionis, who also doubles up on keyboards, gels to stunning effect with his six string mate Kash, with that formidable team bolstered by the solid and varied drumming from Cross. The end results are songs that are bright and sparking with hooks while still housing some hefty slabs of guitars, ensuring that this is no quick-fix throwaway.Highlights come in the shape of the aforementioned "Love Catastrophe", although "Live Again" and "Underground" also hit home, with the latter adding a confident swagger to proceedings. No release in this genre would be complete without a power ballad and Love Catastrophe delivers in style in the shape of "Someday", although the rather unwelcome use of an infuriatingly irritating "auto-tune" on the vocals of "Isolation Game" takes an otherwise decent song and lobs it into the pile marked "skip".Proving that their self titled debut was no flash in the pan, Love Catastrophe reinforces and possibly betters their debut release which announced Outloud as one of the bands right at the forefront of the current melodic rock resurgence. On this form it looks like they are there to stay.

Chandler Mogel (ex-Talon) - Vocals
Bob Katsionis (Firewind) - Guitars, Keyboards
Sverd - Bass
Jim Scordilis - Guitar
George Kollias (NILE) - Drums

Album:

Outloud begins a new chapter of their career with their fourth full-length album, “Virtual Hero Society” (aka VHS) on September 14th, 2018, via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records. This is their first full-length since 2014’s “Let’s Get Serious”, and their second release on ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records, the first being “Destination: Overdrive - The Best of Outloud”, which featured their popular cover of the Pointer Sisters' hit “I’m So Excited”, in 2015.This time, with the album title, theme and title track and first single, “Virtual Heroes”, Outloud abandons their general “playful” approach and goes toward deeper subject matter, tackling what could be called the “double-edged sword” of technology in today's society, as evidenced by the album cover.Chandler Mogel, the American lead singer of the band, comments on the albums concept: “I know that Outloud of course is known for all our good time rock and roll and party vibe and all that, however this is a very important subject that needs to be addressed to the masses. Cell phones and social media in general are very convenient and allow us to communicate to a broader audience , however they have some negative aspects which stem from misuse that not all people may realize. We hope to do some good for the society at large by giving back an important message in that we really want people not to abuse them nor do we want people to lose their humanity for one another, because they are so "zoned out" by their phone screens, etc. Take the time to reach out and touch someone - for real”.According to Bob Katsionis: “This time we tried to achieve the most difficult task of all: to have a personal sound that reminds of no other production in the genre, by combing the best of the analog world with the big disco snare drum sound and the analog mixing with the virtues of the new age with synthesizers, distorted basses and metal guitars! Same thing we did with the title of the album: the nostalgia of the VHS tapes-era that also translates to the harsh reality of the "Virtual Hero Society" we live in!”...
