Legs Diamond is an American rock band that has often been called "The American Deep Purple". They formed in Los Angeles, California starting with Michael "Diamond" Gargano (bass) and Jeff Poole (drums). The group released their self-titled debut album for Mercury Records in 1977. The original band broke up in 1980 after three popular albums, but reformed in 1984 after their original albums had begun to acquire a cult following.The new lineup released several more albums and continued to perform throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2005, original frontman Rick Sanford was replaced by ex-Montrose and Wild Horses vocalist John Levesque, and the band released their latest album, "Diamonds Are Forever", in 2006. Original members include Roger Romeo (guitar), Michael Prince (keyboards/rhythm guitar), and Jeff Poole (percussion). The band still does the occasional gig in the Los Angeles area and at least once a year in San Antonio, TX where they are still hugely popular, the result of being a favorite of influential disc jockey Joe "the Godfather" Anthony (1940-1992).Keyboardist Michael Prince is active in studio recording, in Los Angeles, working with some better known R+B and Pop Acts, including Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Usher, Los Lobos and Michael Jackson.Guitarist Roger Romeo is also currently working in a new band called the Funkin Maniacs. Power drummer Jon Hyde (Detective) and NS Stick and bassist Gary Jibilian round out the trio. Two discs released as one! That's using the maximum amount of time you can put on a disc. If you enjoy getting more this is way practical. You get the import version of OUT ON BAIL(2 Xtra songs) and all of LAND OF THE GUN. This is almost 79 minutes of pleasure. All of the songs here are good songs, but there are 10 better than average songs like "Out on Bail", "Rock Doktor", "Walk Away", "Turn to Stone", "Find it Out the Hard Way", "Land of the Gun", and "Doomsday Flight". Legs Diamond can play them hard; they can play 'em slow. The point I'm trying to make is that these guys are really really GOOD! I enjoy all of their stuff, but this one, if you can find it, is well worth the search. This band features a superior guitarist, vocalist, drummer and keyboard player. Hell, the band is good, just not recognized. Don't let that stop you! Get It!Of note are the personel changes through these 2 albums. Original Bass player Michael Diamond is gone, as is great guiraist Roger Romeo. Leaving on Land of the gun was incredible drummer Jeff Poole (tracks 1-3, 5, 6, 8 & 9). Dusty Watkins plays drum on Tracks 4 & 7, which are from the German import. The American release was just an EP [Target Records] in 1984. Land of the Gun was released in 1986. The drummer on the remaining tracks is Jonathen Valen. Rick Sanford [vocals] and Michael Prince [keys, guitars, vocals] is the same with the new guitarist being Jim May and new bassist Mike Christie. Listening to this on Cd, I would like to add that Right Between the Eyes, Fugitive, One Way Ticket, Steal a Heart, and My Own Game have all grown on me greatly. I paid $50 for mine when it wasn't available, so, if you like Legs Diamond this is a must even though there are line-up changes, but look for a price of $40 or less and a condition of Like New to NEW. If you are new to the band try Favorites and then A Diamond Is a Hard Rock, Legs Diamond, Town Bad Girl or Fire Power. I gave this a 4, but it is more of a 4.5 than a 4. Truely one of the best CDs I have in my collection.

You can carry on investing time, experience and energy in anything but without a well timed appearance by the grand dame of serendipity you might as well whistle in the wind.That, unfortunately, was the case for Legs Diamond, one of the greatest, yet underexposed, hard rock bands of the Seventies. After Rock Candy re-released three of the US band's most sought-after albums as valuable reissues in 2018, album four, five and six are now being released in chronological order. All three CDs contain brand new liner notes with new archive photos. They have been remastered and contain up to five bonus tracks.US hardrockers Legs Diamonds Out On Bail was originally released in 1984 but has now got a re-release through AOR Heaven with the addition of 3 bonus tracks. This is a album that is very up and down with couple of fantastic AOR-songs and in the other hand their is poor and weak hardrock songs. The drumproduction is not that fun because the album was recorded with utilised synthesized drums and it feels very dated today to listen to it, it´s a shame because their is good songs on it. Fugitive, Walkaway, Find It Out The Hard Way and Nobody´s Fool that are great AOR-songs that reminds of White Sister meets Franke & The Knockouts. These songs has brilliant catchy hookfilled 80s AOR-choruses but the drumsound takes away the strong feeling from these songs.The bonus tracks is nothing to get excited over because they are average tracks that feels a bit unneccessary and those songs are Radio, Hey Texas and One Last Kiss.Those mentioned songs are really good and if you can live with the synthesized drumsound then check out this album but I think this is just a way to wake up the fans of Legs Diamond because the band will released a brand new album later this year.

This record mixes the best of both worlds.The record is a fine piece of Hard Rock, which has all the elements that makes it a classic album in the Hard Rock genre; the production, songs, artwork, backing vocals and musicians is all in place.The record is diverse and builds bridge between the "old" and revamped Legs Diamond, since it has re-recordings of Stage Fright from the first Legs Diamond album and Woman off "A Diamond is a Hard Rock".The strength of "Town Bad Girl" is the amazing mid-tempo tunes World on Fire and I am For You. The record is the hardest Legs Diamond record mainly because of Roger Romeo's hard driving guitar, which forces a song like I am for You. The song is a great example of the music on "Town Bad Girl" since the keys soften it a bit and the outcome is a great mid-tempo Hard Rock song.The irresistible Can't Get You (Out of My Mind) has a catchy chorus and cool Hammond from Michael Prince.Singer Rick Stanford has a great raw voice with a Brian Johnson alike tone. He certainly differentiates Legs Diamond. Guitarist Roger Romeo's playing is sharp and precise. The production puts Romeo's guitar up-front and the guitar is always in-your-face along with Stanford's blowtorch voice.Town Bad Girl" is packed with great tunes: The Ballad Never Enough Time is haunting and should have been a hit single. Legs Diamond outlives their AOR dreams on Look in her Eyes and Cry No More. Michael Prince and Roger Romeo have created a one of the best choruses for Cry No More.Overall, "Town Bad Girl" is a solid Hard Rock album with some great songs and some top performances. A forgotten gem?

Legs Diamond is an American rock band that has often been called "The American Deep Purple". They formed in Los Angeles, California starting with Michael "Diamond" Gargano (bass) and Jeff Poole (drums). The group released their self-titled debut album for Mercury Records in 1977. The original band broke up in 1980 after three popular albums, but reformed in 1984 after their original albums had begun to acquire a cult following.The new lineup released several more albums and continued to perform throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2005, original frontman Rick Sanford was replaced by ex-Montrose and Wild Horses vocalist John Levesque, and the band released their latest album, "Diamonds Are Forever", in 2006. Original members include Roger Romeo (guitar), Michael Prince (keyboards/rhythm guitar), and Jeff Poole (percussion). The band still does the occasional gig in the Los Angeles area and at least once a year in San Antonio, TX where they are still hugely popular, the result of being a favorite of influential disc jockey Joe "the Godfather" Anthony (1940-1992).Keyboardist Michael Prince is active in studio recording, in Los Angeles, working with some better known R+B and Pop Acts, including Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Usher, Los Lobos and Michael Jackson.Guitarist Roger Romeo is also currently working in a new band called the Funkin Maniacs. Power drummer Jon Hyde (Detective) and NS Stick and bassist Gary Jibilian round out the trio. They are recording a new CD slated for release early 2012.As of 2011, the band was working on their 12th CD due to be available within the year.

After Rock Candy re-released three of the US band's most sought-after albums as valuable reissues in 2018, album four, five and six are now being released in chronological order. All three CDs contain brand new liner notes with new archive photos. They have been remastered and contain up to five bonus tracks.Hard rock album including original members Rick Sanford on vocals and Michael Prince on Guitars/Keyboards.Although with hindsight a European tour at this time would have been a huge advantage, the determination of Legs Diamond to regain lost ground in their homeland with a resounding "We're back!" is understandable. With new album "Land Of The Gun" delivered onto a waiting audience (along with an EP featuring "Turn To Stone" and two bonus tracks in the UK), the band's profile had never been higher. Magazine articles in many languages grew ever more plentiful. The medium of CD had eased itself into everyday culture by now, but not to the degree we recognise today. To get the album out at the best time, vinyl was still the means. Poole had by now left, replaced by skinsman Dusty Watson. (Jonathan Valen, pictured on the album sleeve, did not actually play or record with the band on any album. It's one of those long stories, shortened to the fact that Dusty wasn't available for the band photo session!)
