Bio:

Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band." Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with vocalist/harmonica player Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston. They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of gold and platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album, followed by their 1974 album Get Your Wings. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks cemented their status as hard rock superstars. Two additional albums followed in 1977 and 1979. The band's first five albums have since attained multi-platinum status. Throughout the 1970s, the band toured extensively and charted a dozen Hot 100 singles. By the end of the decade, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army".However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which resulted in the departures of Perry and Whitford in 1979 and 1981, respectively; they were replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay. The band did not fare well between 1980 and 1984, releasing the album Rock in a Hard Place, which went gold but failed to match their previous successes.Perry and Whitford returned in 1984 and the band signed a new deal with Geffen Records. After a comeback tour, the band recorded Done with Mirrors (1985), which won some critical praise but failed to come close to commercial expectations. It was not until the band's collaboration with rap group Run–D.M.C. in 1986, and the 1987 multi-platinum release Permanent Vacation, that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s.In the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won numerous awards for music from the multi-platinum albums Pump (1989), Get a Grip (1993), and Nine Lives (1997), and embarked on their most extensive concert tours to date. The band also became a pop culture phenomenon with popular music videos and notable appearances in television, film, and video games. Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock 'n' roll history.[10][11] Additional albums followed in 2001, 2004, and 2012. Since 2001, the band has toured every year except 2008. After 45 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music.Aerosmith is the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including over 70 million albums in the United States alone. With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most gold albums by an American group, the most total certifications by an American group, and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American group. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine number-one Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.In 2013, the band's principal songwriters, Tyler and Perry, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Album:

Draw the Line is the fifth studio album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released December 1, 1977.It was recorded in an abandoned convent near New York City, rented out for that purpose. The portrait of the band was drawn by the celebrity caricaturist Al Hirschfeld.According to AllMusic, "the band shies away from studio experimenting and dabbling in different styles; instead they return to simple, straight-ahead hard rock." [6] Kerrang! magazine listed the album at #37 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time".By 1977, Aerosmith had released four studio albums, the two most recent - Toys in the Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976) - catapulting the band to stardom. However, as the band began recording their next album, Draw the Line, their excessive lifestyle, combined with constant touring, began to take its toll. "Draw the Line was untogether because we weren't a cohesive unit anymore," guitarist Joe Perry admitted in the Stephen Davis band memoir Walk This Way. "We were drug addicts dabbling in music, rather than musicians dabbling in drugs.Although the LP would sell well over a million copies in fewer than six weeks after its release, in 2014 Perry would refer to it as "the beginning of the end" and "the decay of our artistry...".According to Steven Tyler's autobiography Does the Noise In My Head Bother You, manager David Krebs suggested that Aerosmith record their next album at an estate near Armonk, New York called the Cenacle, "away from the temptation of drugs." The plan failed miserably, however, with Tyler recalling, "Drugs can be imported, David...we have our resources. Dealers deliver! Hiding us away in a three-hundred room former convent was a prescription for total lunacy."Largely due to their drug consumption, both Tyler and Perry were not as involved in the writing and recording as they had been on previous albums. According to Perry: A lot of people had input into that record because Steven and I had stopped giving a fuck. "Draw the Line," "I Wanna Know Why," and "Get It Up" were the only things Steven and I wrote together. Tom, Joey and Steven came up with "Kings and Queens," and Brad played rhythm and lead. Brad and Steven wrote "The Hand That Feeds," which I didn't even play on because I'd stayed in bed the day they recorded it and Brad played great on it anyway.Producer Jack Douglas, who had started producing the band with Get Your Wings in 1974, expressed similar feelings about the apathy that permeated the recording sessions:So I started Draw the Line, and for a while gave it my all. But because they were halfhearted about the record, I was too. Steven wasn't writing at all. They lyrics to "Critical Mass" came from a dream I had at the Cenacle. I never expected Steven to record it, but he didn't have anything else, so he used my lyrics as written. Same with "Kings and Queens." Steven and I wrote the lyrics together, which was like pulling teeth. For his part, Tyler has maintained that it was the band's lethargy, not his, that slowed his progress, because "I wasn't Patti Smith writing poetry. I write exactly to the music, and when the music ain't coming, neither were the lyrics."[8][full citation needed] However, Tyler confessed to Alan di Perna of Guitar World in April 1997, "What I specifically remember was not being present in the studio because I was so stoned. In the past, I always had to be there and hear every note that was going down - who was playing what and were they out of tune...I just didn't care anymore." Tyler's condition is evident in some of his lyrics, such as the line "pass me the vial and cross your fingers that it don't take time." In the VH1 Behind the Music episode on the group Douglas states, "People were shooting, bullets were flying. It was insane. People, drugs and guns. You know, they don't go together," with drummer Joey Kramer adding, "I don't know if we did any of those sessions, or made any of that record, straight." In his autobiography Rocks, Perry admits that he had misplaced a cookie tin full of demos for the band that he had prepared in his basement studio, irritating Douglas, but they were eventually found by Perry's wife Elyssa: Among those tapes was not only the fully realized "Bright Light Fright," but tracks that led to other songs like "I Wanna Know Why," "Get It Up," and "Draw the Line," the title tune. Something I'd started with David Johansen became "Sight for Sore Eyes." But the lyrics literally took months for Steven to write, and by then we were back at the Record Plant in New York.Relations deteriorated further when Perry presented "Bright Light Fright" to the band and they "didn't like it. I said, 'Do you want to do it or not?' They said no."Perry, who has stated the song was inspired by the Sex Pistols, sang the song himself on the LP. (He had shared lead vocal duties with Tyler on "Combination" from their previous album Rocks.) Of the ironically titled "Draw the Line," Tyler later recalled, "Joe had this lick on a six-string bass that was so definitive, the song just about wrote itself. It reached down my neck and grabbed the lyrics out of my throat.".The song encompasses many of the typical things Aerosmith is known for, including the strong rhythm backbeat and the back-and-forth interplay between guitarists Perry and Brad Whitford. The song slows down before building to a climax showcasing Tyler's trademark scream. The B-side of some versions of "Draw the Line", "Chip Away the Stone", was not on the LP but eventually surfaced on Gems. It was written by Richie Supa and received a fair amount of radio airplay after the release of Gems, and found its way into Aerosmith's live setlists for a while.Kramer explained in 1997 that "Kings and Queens," the LP's second single, was a "typical session at the Cenacle. It was recorded in the chapel with the pews out, the drums on the altar. Jack was in the confessional, hitting the snare drum by himself."[8][full citation needed] In his memoir, Tyler writes that the song's lyrics were inspired by a "medieval fantasy" that featured "a stoned-out rock star in his tattered satin rags lying on the ancient stone floor of a castle - slightly mad, but still capable of conjuring up a revolutionary album that would astound the ears of the ones who heard it and make the critics cringe."[10][full citation needed] Jack Douglas plays the mandolin on the track, which was also used as a B-side to Aerosmith's version of the Beatles' "Come Together," released to promote the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band film and soundtrack. "Get It Up" features Karen Lawrence, singer of the band L.A. Jets, on the chorus. David Krebs later stated that he felt Tyler's lyrics on songs like "Get It Up" did not help the album's standing among Aerosmith fans: "The essence of Aerosmith had always been a positive and very macho sexuality, total unashamed, a little sleazy...They didn't want to hear lyrics like 'Get It Up,' which repeated over and over again, Can't get it up'...The negative lyrics were a big problem.""Get It Up" was released as the album's third single but failed to break into the singles chart. The song is noted for its usage of slide guitar. The song was played occasionally by the band during the Aerosmith Express Tour from 1977–1978 in support of the Draw the Line album.[citation needed] The band did not have enough original material to cover the running time for a single album so they recorded two blues classics: Otis Rush's "All Your Love" and Kokomo Arnold's "Milk Cow Blues". "All Your Love" would not make Draw the Line but would later turn up on the band's box set Pandora's Box.

Album:

Recording began in the spring of 1979, but right from the beginning there were delays. Hampered by rampant drug use, vocalist Steven Tyler had difficulty completing lyrics and vocals. Bassist Tom Hamilton recalled: "We worked on the album, but we couldn't finish it. It was supposed to come out in June and be called Off Your Rocker, but there were no lyrics. It was a big crisis." The band members were also in dire financial straits, with Perry owing $80,000 to the band for room service, which he planned to repay by recording a solo album. The relationship between Aerosmith and Jack Douglas also became frosty when the producer divorced his wife, whom the band liked. This, combined with weak sales of Draw the Line, led to Columbia stepping in, with Douglas reflecting in the band memoir Walk This Way, "The label finally put a lot of pressure on them. It was: "Look at these sales numbers. Come up with another hit or there's gonna be trouble.' David [Krebs, Aerosmith's manager] thought I no longer exercised control over the band, which was true. No one did." With the album only half-finished, the band were sent on tour to generate revenue, as they had burned through the budget allotted to them. This premature outing during the summer months pushed the album's release to late in the year. "Our management booked a tour," Hamilton noted, "leaving us just enough time to make the record, based on how long it'd taken us in the past, but we actually needed much more time. So we had to go on tour before the vocals were finished, and it was dragging on and on. Everyone was super-frustrated by it. It's ironic, because we were out on the road, playing stadiums to huge amounts of people, and yet the band was getting ready to die."Substance abuse among the members was getting worse and they started fighting among themselves. This led to missed and sloppy live performances, culminating in a fight involving the members and their wives. Perry quit the band halfway through the tour. Prior to his departure, he had completed guitar parts for "No Surprize," "Chiquita," "Cheese Cake," "Three Mile Smile," and "Bone to Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)." Guitar parts for the remaining songs were recorded by Brad Whitford, Richie Supa, Neil Thompson, and Jimmy Crespo. (The last became Perry's official replacement from 1979–84.) Perry's last session with the band was on May 30, 1979.Aerosmith spent the summer at Media Sound in New York trying to finish off the album with producer Gary Lyons. The band caught a second wind when Tyler came up with lyrics for a song he had been composing with Perry that "told the story of the band," which became "No Surprize," a song that Tyler has cited as his favorite. In the band's 1997 memoir Walk This Way, Tyler shared his thoughts on several of the album's tracks: "Reefer Headed Woman" - "'Reefer Head Woman' was a 1940s blues record. I had the lyrics in a notebook that got stolen, and I had to call Dr. Demento from the Record Plant, where we finished the album, and the Doctor read the lyrics to me over the phone." "Mia" - "It was a lullaby I wrote on the piano for my daughter, but the tolling bell notes at the end of the song and the end of the album sounded more like the death knell of Aerosmith for people who knew what was going on." "No Surprize" - "For two months, I'd been totally blocked, writing lyrics for this track we had done with Joe. 'My name is nah nah nah, I come from Yonkers High, and I get drunk at night.' One night I had such a revelation to write the story of the band, how Aerosmith got started...I was so excited to be back on track." "Bone to Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)" - I had to explain to the press that a Coney Island whitefish is a used rubber." Also included on the album was a cover of "Think About It," a Yardbirds B-side from 1968 that Aerosmith had occasionally played live through the 70s. Tyler has expressed great satisfaction with Night in the Ruts, calling it his favorite album[8] and cryptically enthusing to Stephen Davis in 1997, "Heroin. Shooting coke. Eating opium and it was just...I love that album - Night in the Ruts. It's like a fuckin' solar eclipse." Perry also insisted to Guitar World in 1997, "We were still fucked up, but the record sounds more cohesive than Draw the Line. Night in the Ruts was a rockin' record."[citation needed] Promo videos for "No Surprize" and "Chiquita" were filmed (featuring Jimmy Crespo); however, these videos received little television airplay.[citation needed] "Chiquita" is available on the band's Video Scrapbook VHS and laserdisc release. "Bone to Bone (Coney Island White Fish Boy)" is the most performed song from Night In The Ruts, with 144 performances. It received heavy rotation in the band's live setlist during the second half of the 1980s, but had largely been dropped by 1990.The title is an intentional spoonerism of the phrase "right in the nuts," which was subsequently the title of the tour and was shown on the back artwork for the album.Despite some critical acclaim and early success, the album quickly fell down the charts. Stylistically, Night in the Ruts marked an attempt to return to the band's blues roots, including a blues cover, a tender lullaby, a dramatic ballad, and a large helping of choruses layered across six rockers with the lead vocals mixed more highly above the tracks than any of the band's prior albums. The cover of Shangri-Las ballad "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" was criticized for "wavering inconsistently between hard rock and the Spectorian grandeur of the original" by Rolling Stone writer David Fricke.Critic Greg Prato of AllMusic offered a more charitable commentary in a historical context, calling it "a surprisingly coherent and inspired album. Although it's not up to par with such classics as Toys in the Attic or Rocks (although it could have been if the band weren't in such a state of turmoil at the time), it was definitely leaner and more focused than the [band's previous] studio release, Draw the Line."

Album:

Done with Mirrors is the eighth studio album by American rock band Aerosmith, released November 9, 1985. It marked the return to the band of guitarists Joe Perry, who had left in 1979, and Brad Whitford, who had left in 1981. The band's first album on Geffen Records, it was intended as their "comeback". However, despite good reviews, it did not live up to commercial expectations."Let the Music Do the Talking" was a rerecording of the title track from first album by The Joe Perry Project, with altered lyrics and melody.Brad Whitford revealed that producer Ted Templeman wanted to capture the band's aggressive, "out of control freight train" sound by removing the red light indicating that recording was underway (a technique he had used to capture Van Halen's sound). Templeman told the band to run through the songs in the studio and recorded them without their knowledge. Whitford referred to the nerves generated when knowingly recording songs as "the red light blues"."I had a great time making that record," Templeman told The Washington Post's Geoff Edgers, "and Steven was one of the most amazing guys. But we had to do that record in Berkeley because they didn’t want those guys to score (drugs). They didn’t want them to be in L.A. or San Francisco. I wasn’t familiar with the board. As a producer, if you know your room and the mic preamps, you know how things are going to sound. I don’t think I made Joey’s drums sound as good as they could have, or Joe’s guitar."On VH1 Classic's That Metal Show, Joey Kramer expressed his dislike of Done with Mirrors, claiming that the band "never really finished it".Joe Perry was similarly dismissive: "Done with Mirrors, as far as I'm concerned, is our least inspired record. But I've heard fans really like it, so I'm not gonna stand there and tell 'em, 'No, it sucks.' We had to do that record to get to the next one, so it served its purpose. I just don't think it's up to the standard of some of our others."Viacom (MTV & VH1) executive Doug Herzog recalled that, after this album, "Aerosmith was done… They were a little bit of a joke."[6] However, they would revive their career in 1986 with a landmark remake of 1975's "Walk This Way" with hip-hop group Run DMC, followed by an album that would eventually go 5× Platinum – Permanent Vacation – in 1987.Despite the band's views, the album earned mostly positive reviews, and is a cult favorite among fans.

Album:

Permanent Vacation is the ninth studio album by American rock band Aerosmith, released on August 25, 1987 by Geffen Records. The album marked a turning point in the band's career. It was their first to employ songwriters outside the band, instead of featuring songs solely composed by them. This came at the suggestion of executive John Kalodner. He also pushed the band to work with producer Bruce Fairbairn, who remained with them for another two albums. It was also the first Aerosmith album to be promoted by heavy music video airplay on MTV. Though Done with Mirrors was intended to mark Aerosmith's comeback, Permanent Vacation is often considered their true comeback, as it was the band's first truly popular album since their reunion. "Rag Doll", "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)", and "Angel" became major hits (all three charted in the Top 20) and helped Permanent Vacation become the band's greatest success in a decade. The album features a cover of The Beatles' "I'm Down", which originally appeared as a B-side to their single "Help!" in 1965. This was Aerosmith's second commercially released Beatles cover, after "Come Together".Permanent Vacation has sold over five million copies in the U.S.In the UK, it was the first Aerosmith album to attain both Silver (60,000 units sold) and Gold (100,000 units sold) certification by the British Phonographic Industry, achieving these in July 1989 and March 1990 respectively. The album's title – a phrase from The Angels' "My Boyfriend's Back" – was later referenced in Aerosmith's 1993 hit "Amazing" from the album Get a Grip.

Album:

One of you asked for the best sounding-reissue AEROSMITH albums, especially from the first era. Here's the band's very first, self-titled debut "Aerosmith", pretty improved in sound with this remastered Japanese Blu-Spec CD2 release.Aerosmith emerged in America as a hard rock alternative in a music sea of glam rock and prog rock of the first half of the Seventies. Their impressive self-titled debut "Aerosmith" album doesn’t contain anything particularly innovative, but brought the hard rockin' blood to the American scene."Aerosmith" is bloozy -- the riffs don't swing, they slide. They borrow liberally from Led Zeppelin's hybridization of Chess and Sun riffs without ever sounding much like Zep. They are never as British as Zeppelin -- they lack the delicate folky preciousness, they lack the obsession with blues authenticity, they lack the larger-than-life persona of so many Brit bands.Instead, they are truly an American band, sounding as though they were the best bar band in your local town, cranking out nasty hard-edged rock, best heard on "Mama Kin", one of the highlights here, one that's so greasy it nearly slips through their fingers. It was successfully recorded later by Guns N' Roses, an dyou can hear how Aerosmith incluenced Axl Rose & Co.Steven Tyler wrote the bulk of the original material and uses a bit of an exaggerated “blues” voice, something he would soon abandon. If you never heard "Aerosmith", you'll be surprised by his vocal tone.Aerosmith’s recording career begins with an excellent example of their early sound. “Make It” is a mixture of fuzzy but clean riffs and some distant whining guitars above a solid rhythm.“Somebody” a pure, riff-driven rocker follows. It appears the band was going for the accessible radio hit. This song has an interesting middle section, which slowly develops but works towards a whiny, bluesy guitar mimicked in sync by Tyler’s ad-libbed voice. The original recording of “Dream On” is unique, surreal, and timeless song, which can often be overlooked as the classic signature song that it is. This may be due to the fact that it has been way overplayed on rock radio and, let’s face it, the band kind of butchers it live. The song is unique on this album, driven by piano, mellotron, and high pitched vocals by Tyler, and ringing guitar notes by Perry. It was the band’s first single, but only reached #59 in 1973. It did much better during a second release in 1976, reaching the Top 10 after Aerosmith had broken through to the mainstream.“One Way Street” is the proper fusion of blues and rock which represents the heart of the album. “Write Me a Letter” was recorded with a real live feel to it, sounding like it was done in a club. The guitars are crisp and Kramer’s drumming is especially sharp and dynamic, rising above the rest of the band.“Movin’ Out” was co-written by Perry and is another strong blues with a real Celtic undertone to it. The album completes with “Walkin’ the Dog”, the only cover song on the album, written by Rufus Thomas. It may also be the most Zeppelin-esque of any song on the album, very upbeat and entertaining and a strong way to finish the album."Aerosmith" started all, and it's impressive how the band devoled the sound in years to come. Raw n' rocking, this album stood the test of time and decades later still sounds fresh and entertaining. This reissue on high quality Blu-Spec CD2 sounds great, the best you can get from this LP.

Album:

Rock in a Hard Place is the seventh studio album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released on August 1,1982 through Columbia Records. It was certified gold on November 10, 1989.It is the only Aerosmith album not to feature lead guitarist Joe Perry, following his departure from the band in 1979. Rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford also left during the recording in 1981. The band spent $1.5 million on the recording of this album, which saw them reunited with producer Jack Douglas. Previously, Aerosmith released six studio albums, but multiple problems arose. Joe Perry had left the band in 1979 after the incidents at the World Series of Rock in Cleveland, Ohio and was replaced by Jimmy Crespo. Meanwhile, Steven Tyler's drug abuse increased. After recording the single "Lightning Strikes", guitarist Brad Whitford also left Aerosmith in 1981 and was replaced by Rick Dufay when the recording of the album was finished. Rock in a Hard Place was released on August 1, 1982. In a contemporary review for Rolling Stone magazine, J. D. Considine lamented how the band had decided to maintain their old sound on the album, despite new heavy rock "fast power chords had made Aerosmith’s bluesy boogie almost obsolete". He praised "Perry lookalike Jimmy Crespo"'s guitar playing, but wrote that "despite an occasional burst of primal energy, much of the LP rocks by rote."AllMusic Greg Prato wrote that Aerosmith "didn't possess the magical chemistry of their '70s classics" without Perry and Withford, but the band could "still rock out" producing their "most studio-enhanced and experimental record up to this point" with "a few pleasant surprises", like "the psychedelicized 'Joanie's Butterfly'".Canadian journalist Martin Popoff described the album as "a bit patchy" with highlights being "Jailbait", "Lightning Strikes" and "Joanie's Butterfly" and the rest "variously lumbering, untuneful and forced", and concluded that, although Aerosmith "could barely function", they "never made a bad record." "In theory a disaster," observed Classic Rock magazine, "in practice, an unlikely triumph. Never mind the Spinal Tap-anticipating Stonehenge cover – Rock in a Hard Place is one kick-ass album… 'Lightning Strikes', 'Bolivian Ragamuffin' and 'Joanie's Butterfly' are classic Aerosmith songs – no matter who played on them.""The record doesn't suck," wrote drummer Joey Kramer in his 2009 autobiography, Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top. "There's some real good stuff on it. But it's not a real Aerosmith record because it's just me, Steven, and Tom [Hamilton] — with a fill-in guitar player. It's Jimmy Crespo doing the guitar work."

Album:

AEROSMITH's "Pump Outtakes", a compilation of demo tapes recorded during their 1989 album 'Pump'. This is not an official release, but an actual CDr sold privately even with printed artwork. Some of the tracks present here later evolved into the album final songs, some are ideas never finished, and some unreleased - until now - songs. With skilled producer Bruce Fairbairn and renowned engineers Mike Fraser / Ken Lomas behind the desk, the the making of Pump took almost 2 years. The recording label and the band wanted a mainstream hit album, and there were endless pre-production sessions to polish every detail to the extreme. In the meantime, Aerosmith composed several songs mostly born of studio ideas, then developed into full length songs. We have here the genesis of tunes like 'The Other Side', 'Don't Get Mad Get Even' and the mega-hit, number one single 'Love In An Elevator'.It's fun, every time I hear 'Love In An Elevator' I remember Gene Simmons early '80s sentence "You gotta have a proper chorus for a hit song, as example, a song with the word 'Elevator' on it never will be a hit"...However, the interesting tracks on "Pump Outtakes" are the rarities. There's 2 version of 'Deuces Are Wild', an unreleased song (later included on the compilation Big Ones) but here are different. Also really good is the pre-production of 'Burnin' Up', which later was finally recorded and re-titled 'Ain't Enough' and used as 'Love In An Elevator' single B-side. We find 3 early versions here.'Fake Fight' and 'Guilty Kilt' rocks bluesy, both never officially released songs, and there's the cool 'Sedona Sunrise' (co-written with Bryan Adam's partner Jim Vallance); later properly recorded to be included on the compilation Devil's Got A New Disguise."Pump" is one of Aerosmith's best albums, loved by the band's both type of fans; the older from the '70s and the newer from the glossy mainstream sound. It mixes the best of both worlds and that's why its songs are so much revered, and these 'extras / demos / unreleased' are so much sought after. There's at least 2 versions of this "Pump Outtakes" CDr, quite rare and even unavailable at well known huge bootleg blogs. The sound quality isn't top notch, but without a doubt this is a must have for Aerosmith fans, completists and rarities collectors.

Tribute albums are like strawberries; it's your favorite fruit or you don't like it at all. For me, when the recordings are well done - arranged & produced - I dig this type of releases. "Let the Tribute Do the Talkin' - Tribute to Aerosmith" is one of those cases, featuring some great names performing great tunes. All are really, really well done, mostly faithful to the originals yet with each guest adding their own spin. One of my favorites is "Cryin’" with the always superb Jeff Scott Soto at the mic, accompanied by nothing more and nothing less than the underrated Craig Goldy (Dio / Giuffria / Rough Cutt) on guitars, Jason Scheff (Chicago) on bass, and Aynsley Dunbar (Journey / Jefferson Starship) on drums. Wow.Joe Lynn Turner does a great "Let The Music Do The Talking", Glenn Hughes rocks on "Kings And Queens" with Steve Lukather (Toto) on the six strings, and so on... the line-up is simply awesome."Let the Tribute Do the Talkin' - Tribute to Aerosmith" is one of the best hard rock-related tribute albums ever done. This was released more than ten years ago and now reissued, and really worth it to treasure and enjoy.Classic songs performed by the cream of the genre - Very Recommended.
