Since day one, they have the unwritten laws of the Northern Ireland scene showed the middle finger, set new standards, conventions and broken, pushed further their band with an intensity that is unmatched forward.In the first months Maverick have played a number of gigs in local clubs known and immediately enthusiastic about what surely it was that they have expanded their setlist week. Since their first gig in Belfast, the number of audience is growing immensely, which is certainly also due to their self-sacrificing work and PR activity in social networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), which distinguishes it from so many other bands.Mavericks first EP "Talk's Cheap" has the band released in an edition of 500 copies itself and soon it was all over Northern Ireland and other countries, such as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, England, Canada, Australia and the US, sold.The EP was well accepted and received so much airplay in the US (including a full EP showcases at The Metal Madman Radio Show), the UK and even in Mexico. The band thus also competed in many international record companies and within a few weeks, she then signed with Massacre Records.Recently, the band recorded their debut album "Quid Pro Quo" which will be released on Massacre Records. Also, they stir constantly the drum for the album, so it is not surprising that the album by many fans from all over the world is eagerly awaited.Some time ago, the band also has the first video clip for the song "Paint By Numbers," which can be found on "Quid Pro Quo" published.As a result, the interest in the debut album was increased again many times. Maverick exist only 2 years, yet they have been published in this short time, even an EP that good reviews and airplay reaped and signed to a major European label worldwide.They were already top acts from the US on the stage, such as Tigertailz, Faster Pussycat, Cheap Thrill (with members of White Lion & Cinderella) and soon - November 15, 2015 - they will play with Y & T in front of a large audience. Maverick have taken up the cause to bring their band to the top. And since they are always at 100%, and a lot of heart and soul into the thing, it's only a matter of time before they have reached the goal!

Album:

This album quite literally grabs you by the balls from the opening chords of “All For One” – it’s a mixture between the sound of an angry wild animal, a ferocious motorbike and an explosion. You’d almost think, from hearing this opening, that the rest of the album was just going to be a lot of face-melting guitars that make you cry with joy while your air-guitaring arms fall off. Well, you’d be wrong.This album is the mark of a band who have truly found themselves. There’s a (not too) quiet assurance about the song writing here that wasn’t immediately obvious with Quid Pro Quo – not that that was a bad album, not by a long shot. But this is a band who have arrived and know precisely who they are.Everything just seems to work for them here – from the incredible guitars, the incessant drums to David Balfour’s vocals. This album has pretty much everything you could want in an album (if you have sort of musical taste, that is). David’s range is evident when it comes to “Fly Away” – he’s not just a ‘rock’ singer – this guy has serious depth in his voice.I’ve been lucky enough to meet the lads from Maverick before and it’s brilliant to see how far they’ve come in such a short period of time. You wouldn’t think that this was their second album, that’s how accomplished it is.One thing I would say is that they almost sound like a band in the wrong era – if they’d been around in the 80s, there’s a good chance they’d have been huge. Yet at the same time, it’s almost better that they’re around now – it means I finally get the chance to witness a great band on their path to stardom. I’ve stumbled across most other bands after they’ve already made it. Not this time – this time, I’m going along for the ride.As good as this album sounds, I genuinely can’t wait to see it performed live – that’s where Maverick’s true strength lies. No matter how impressive their albums sound, they always seem to find that little extra when it comes to being on stage. Maybe they hold something back from the studio, maybe they feed off the crowd’s energy. Either way, I don’t care – it always makes for one hell of a show.There are so many songs on here that are bound to become crowd pleasers at their gigs, it’s going to take me a while to learn all the words. Still, at least that gives me an excuse to listen to this album on repeat. Not that I need one – this album won’t be off my playlist for a long, long time.

German label Metalapolis Records will release the new album “Cold Star Dancer” from hard rock band Maverick on April 6, 2018!Founded back in 2012 from the Balfour brothers Ryan and David, Maverick soon could establish themselves in the scene. With their first album "Quid Pro Quo", they already could tour in Europe together with the Swedish hard rock stars The Poodles. The from press and fans very well reviewed second album "Big Red" saw the 5-piece from Belfast/Northern Ireland again on the road with Swedish superstars Treat. They also played festivals like H.E.A.T (Germany), Icerock and Rocknacht Tennwil (Switzerland) and Rockingham in the UK, which helped them to grow their solid fan base to a massive one!The new album "Cold Star Dancer" marks a consequent follow-up to "Big Red". Groovy and modern played heavy rock with killer hooklines and well produced by Neal Calderwood in the Manor Park Studios in Belfast. Singer David Balfour proves that he is one of the new heroes of the current hard rock generation and guitarist Ryan Balfour, who played almost all the guitars himself (second guitarist Terry McHugh left the band during the production), is without a doubt one of the upcoming shredders! Some songs saw guest performances from Treat guitarist Anders Wikström ("Ex Machina" and "Cold Star Dancer") and Stormzone guitarist Steve Moore ("Myrmidon", "Viper" and "Devil's Night"). Until they'll find a permanent new guitar player, Steve Moore will help the band out on live shows.

After three years in the making, including delays in the recording process due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ethereality, the brand new album by Belfast, Northern Ireland-based Hard Rock group Maverick is ready to see the light of day, bringing to our avid ears all of the trademark elements that helped the “Balfour Brothers” David (vocals) and Ryan (guitars) to conquer the hearts of admirers of old school rock and metal music from all over the world. Combining the catchy, hookline oriented songwriting from their 2016 album Big Red with the heaviness of their 2018 opus Cold Star Dancer, and featuring a beautiful artwork by Ukrainian artist Cardaan, Maverick is indeed an ethereal album of Rock N’ Roll, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, resulting in the strongest effort to date by David and Ryan together with their bandmates Ric Cardwell on the guitars, Richie Diver on bass, and newcomer Jason-Steve Mageney on drums.Falling already kicks off in full force to the piercing vocals by David in a stunning display of classic Hard Rock by Maverick, reminding me of the golden years of Skid Row, Def Lepard and all of our 80’s Hair Metal heroes; and Ryan and Ric keep slashing their strings in great fashion in Thirst, another very melodic and electrifying tune with Jason kicking some ass with his old school beats, being perfect for any Rock N’ Roll party from all around the world. Never is a thrilling song for hitting the road with your loved ones, showcasing the always soaring voice by David supported by his bandmates spot-on backing vocals, while Richie and Jason are in total sync with their respective bass jabs and stylish beats, whereas in Switchblade Sister we’re treated to old school Glam Metal lyrics (“I know / I’m never number one when you need someone to hold you / But I’ll do just fine / Can’t help / But laugh when I hear your excuses / Can only think of me as a list of uses”) boosted by a vibrant sound crafted by all band members. And piercing guitars ignite the Melodic Rock tune Bells Of Stygian, keeping the album at a high level of adrenaline while Jason continues to pound his drums nonstop.It’s time for more of their 80’s-fueled hybrid of Rock N’ Roll and Heavy Metal in the form of Angels 6, where the entire band kicks some ass with their sharp instruments, with David and Ryan stealing the spotlight with their top-of-the-line vocals and crisp riffs and solos, respectively, whereas classic guitars permeate the air in The Last One, a well-crafted semi-ballad that can be played on any radio station worldwide, despite not being as exciting or detailed as the rest of the album. Then in Dying Star the band gets back to a more rockin’ sound, overflowing electricity with the band’s stringed trio providing David all he needs to shine on vocals once again, including a sick guitar solo, while in Light Behind Your Eyes, another ode to traditional Hard Rock and Heavy Metal by Maverick, Jason’s intricate and rhythmic beats dictate the song’s pace while Richie brings thunder to the music armed with his metallic bass. And lastly, the quintet blasts one final round of their undisputed Hard Rock in Ares, with David’s vocals sounding truly inspirational while the band’s riffs and beats keep the atmosphere as vibrant and harmonious as it can be.When the band itself mentioned Ethereality is their strongest effort to date, well, they were not kidding at all. This is one of those precious gems of the underground that deserves our full attention and admiration, playing it on an endless loop in the name of our good old Rock N’ Roll. The album title says it all as the word “ethereal” means “extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world”, with my only adjustment to that would be on the “delicate and light” side, because what Maverick did in their new album is beyond heavy and electrifying, exactly what we all crave in old school rock and metal music.
