Erika was born on a cold January day in Skellefteå, north Sweden.Joining her first punkband at the age of 12, she continued to found, play and write for several local hardrock/ metal-acts such as Hardware and Algerroad. Having turned down her first recording contract at age 15, she relocated to Stockholm a few years later.There she was involved with bands such as Moria and later particiapted in Rock SM (The Swedish national rock contest) with her newly founded act Duchess. Shortly after that, Erika signed a generous recording deal with Lionheart records, with the debutsingle ”Together we’ re lost” becoming no one in Sweden and the debutalbum ”Cold winter night ” selling about 70 000 copies nationwide and a fair amount internationally.She continued to successfully write and record with Bobby Ljunggren and Håkan Almqvist of Lionheart records for another two albums.Her tours in Sweden produced several attendance records, as well as some infamous incidents when shows had to be cut short due to security reasons – the crowd just went too wild for the guards and police to handle. (..and then we haven’ t even mentioned the amount of underwear thrown on stage by the male fans…Erika ‘s fourth and fifth album we’ re released through Swedish and Japanese labels as joint ventures. This resulted in great airplay, PR-tours and a greatest hits album in Japan.Her first two albums were then re- released in Germany, almost 15 years after their original releasedate, and quickly sold out.Erika spent the first decade of the millenium writing for other artists ( f e the winner and the runner up in the European Song Contest and a Grammy nominee in the dance category;) whilst being a full time mother to her three children.In 2014 she began recording her sixth album in collaboration with some flatteringly high profiles.Mic Michaeli of Europe, Jesper Strömblad of In Flames, Hammerfall etc and Leif Edling of Candlemass are among Erika’s collaborators on the ” Deaf, dumb & blonde”- album, released in May 2016.

ERIKA was born on a cold winter night in Skelleftea,As a teenager she relocated to Stockholm where she started to write and record demos with various rock bands. In the late 80s she dated and later married guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. In 1989 Erika was offered her first deal for a record, which was called "Cold Winter Night", an album she co-wrote and proved to be a resounding success. The following tours were a sell out and Erika became a rock singing sensation. Her marriage with Yngwie ended in 1992 and she found herself back in Stockholm recording two more successful albums: "In The Arms Of A Stranger" and "Lady Luck". The latter featured the hit song "Lost In Paradise", a duet with Eurovision star Jan Johensen. In 1995 Erika recorded "When Christmas Comes To Town", a song which is regarded as a Christmas classic in Sweden. Then she released "Planet X" and "Ripe", which were both very big in Japan. In 2014 Erika started to record her sixth outing, which is called "Deaf, Dumb And Blonde", an album which surpasses all she has done. She still has the vocal power of her earlier releases and is set to make a big stir in the rock world once more. With production from Alex Angleflod and Erika herself, the album was also recorded at the Red Door Studio (Abba, Beyoncé, Korn). Also featured on the recording are band members from Europe, Candlemass and In Flames. During her career Erika has appeared on countless TV shows in Scandinavia and Japan as well as writing for many other well-known artists, one of those being AOR (Frédéric Slama). In short: she is a legend and this new album should see her extending her popularity to a whole new audience. the press material revealed that she was married to Yngwie Malmsteen for a few years back in the day. Oh yeah. The light bulb flickers. I remember a pretty hot blonde on his arm back than. During and after the marriage to the guitar guru, Ms Norberg had a series of five albums (none of which I remember), largely successful in the European theater and Japan, with more than a few notable singles getting media attention. Now after an 18 year hiatus, Norberg returns with a new album, Deaf Dumb And Blonde on the UK label Escape Music.My immediate observations are rather simple. First, Ms Norberg has lost none of her vocal skills. This gal can sing. She has a strong pure rock voice. Second, she still rocks. The great majority of the 12 songs within this album our straight up melodic hard rock with a metal edge, then wrapped in an AOR package. They're characterized by strong riffs and killer solos over an impressive often heavy rhythm section. Notable examples include One For The Road, Killer, Suckerpunch, and the bold rockers, Start Your Engine and Go Down. The only exception to the hard rockin' tunes is the ballad Us Fools, where you get a taste of Norberg's vocal tenderness. Third, Ms Norberg has surrounded herself with a bevy of fine talent. The songwriting, arranging, and musicianship is exceptional if not nearly impeccable. Couple these things with some very slick production and Deaf Dumb And Blonde is some primo classic melodic hard rock. The only thing you need to do is buy the album.
