Bio:
Be The Wolf was formed in September 2011 in Turin (Italy) from members of various bands including MSWhite (Rise Records). The main goal of the band is writing and playing rock music, plain and simple, without any purpose to conform to particular genres, definitions or labels. In March 2012 the band released "Chameleon", its first song, introduced with a DIY video with the purpose of showing a genuine and not-so-serious side of the band.In June 2012 an official video for a new song, "One Man Wolfpack", was released. The band have got an unreleased Ep as well as a bunch of new songs, and is currently (and always will be) working to new material.Be The Wolf unique wish, like any other band on this wicked planet, is to play around their music as much as possible, whenever and wherever.
Album:
Be The Wolf is a modern day rock band that was formed in 2011 in Turin, Italy with Torino, named after their home city, being their fourth album to date. The group is a three-piece comprising of singer, guitarist and songwriter Federico Mondelli (Frozen Crown, Volturian), bassist Marco Verdone and drummer Paul Canetti. They deliver an eclectic and rather soft rock that is very catchy with lots of hooks and great vocal melodies although Torino does seem to be more of a pop rock oriented album than the earlier efforts. The band claims influences and inspiration from Scorpions, Judas Priest and Skid Row but, in my opinion, these cannot be detected in the music on this album. A far more accurate comparison, and these are taken from the publicity shot, would be The Black Keys, Jack White, The Struts and Greta Van Fleet which gives you a flavour of where Be The Wolf is at.Torino is a perfectly crafted, played and produced soft/melodic rock album suffused with interesting and easily digested songs with all three musicians being admirable players. Mondelli is a fine guitarist with some neat riffs and lead breaks but I cannot help but feel that he wants to break out and lay down a ten minute Schenker-type solo. It would be out of keeping with the rest of the album but would certainly increase the interest levels exponentially. Mondelli also has a great voice with perfect English and his delivery is impeccable but he does have a voice that sounds very similar to Harry Styles, Justin Bieber and Will Young which re-enforces the whole pop rock vibe to the album.Torino is an album that will appeal to those who walk on the softer side of rock with the short and immediate accessible songs all having a certain radio friendliness about them. Heavy metal stardom may not follow but single chart (or is that download chart) success could quite easily be achieved.
