Bio:

Trance (TRANZ) is a co-founder of the German Heavy Metal of the 1980s and has been active since TRAN as part of the Trance mission since its release in Trancemission.Because of legal reasons the band changed their name into Trancemission in 1989. After changing their name back to Trance the following year, the group disbanded in 1998. Antoni and Meyer then formed Trancemission in the early 2000s, which is considered a new group rather than a name change. In 1974 the duo of singer Lothar Antoni and guitarist Markus Berger with drummer Stefan Gerdon and bassist Hansi Jantzer as well as keyboarder Clemens Schlindwein as student band under the name TRIBUT came together to make their own music. In 1978 Markus Berger, Lothar Antoni, Hans-Peter Jantzer and Stefan Gerdon founded the band AGE, which they renamed in the following year in TRANCE. In 1980 the band took part in a rock competition, reached second place at the festival of the sponsorship prize of Ludwigshafen on the Rhine and won the SWF3 music festival in Rülzheim. At the turn of the year 1980/1981 Jantzer and Gerdon separated from the band, whereupon bassist Thomas Klein and drummer Jürgen Baum were engaged. As a second guitarist, Michael Kessler was in the band for a short time in 1981. In August 1981, the band produced their first single A Hard Way to Go / Haze in the Twilight in Bad Cannstatter Tonstudio Zuckerfabrik. This effort was carried out because demo cassettes were usually used in the search for labels, but one wanted to stand out from competitors. In 1981, Trance signed her first record deal with Rockport Records. In December of the same year, the first album Break Out was recorded, which soon became an "Overnight Sensation", because the almost eight-minute song "Loser" on it became a hit and helped the band to an international breakthrough. At the beginning of 1982 a tour through Benelux and Germany, which included 14 performances followed. The first two albums, Break Out (1982) and Power Infusion (1983), were released by the Rockport Records label, with a total of 150,000 units sold by these two phonograms. Thereupon Trance gave concerts throughout Germany as well as in the Netherlands and Belgium, about 150 per year, playing with groups like Accept and Warlock. In addition, she played with Vandenberg, Mercyful Fate and Raven in the Netherlands at the Aardschok Festival. In 1985 the album Victory followed. The album was recorded at the Dierks Studios in Stommeln and from Querelen with the record company, which extended to the cover design.Because of different marketing views the band separated from their label and their manager. As he claimed the band's name rights, the band changed their name to "Trancemission" on their next album, Back in Trance. However, this fact was denied at the time and claimed that the new name reflected the "new mission". The new beginning had not been given by Dieter Dierks, who had been assigned all the label tasks, because of his permanent occupation with the Scorpions and Accept. So the group had returned to Rockport Records. After the band regained their name rights, they changed their name and released Rockers in 1992. On the album is a cover version of When a Man Loves a Woman by and with Percy Sledge. The album was released by Mausoleum / Belgium. Then the band decided to break up after a farewell tour. However, as the demand for the band was high, one decided to continue and founded the World of Trance GmbH. In 1993 appeared Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 1994 Shockpower, a compilation with newly recorded songs of the first two albums. Internal differences led to the dissolution. However, Berger and Antoni decided to revive the band again with new members, the second guitar the long-time roadie Andreas Meyer, bass Michael D'Aguiar and drums Manni Reckendorfer. The band published the album Die Hard at LCP Productions at the end of 1996.

Album:

After more than two years, after recording the album twice as we were not happy with the first result...we are more than proud and happy to blow you all away with the first single "Metal Forces". It´s the ultimate return to the classic sound, but this happened not on purpose... It reflects the recent line-up of the band and our chemistry and positive attitude and energy. We hope you all like this first song of "Play Hard". There´s way more to come... a lot of sound and a lot of action!TRANCE are one of the oldest heavy metal bands in Germany and can be considered as co-founders of the genre alongside SCORPIONS and ACCEPT.With new frontman Nick Holleman (ex-VICIOUS RUMORS) they put out the successor of the 2017 album “The Loser Strikes Back“. And the new album delivers timeless, authentic metal sounds and lots of energy. “Metal Forces“ sets the pace for many younger bands. They are still on fire.Actually, I had no idea that this “legendary” German metal band was still alive and kicking… Markus Berger [still in the band by the way] founded the band back in 1974, but in 1979 they changed their name to Trance. They are one of the oldest bands in Germany with that typical Teutonic metal style in the veins of Accept and Scorpions.Four years ago, Trance released the album ‘The Loser Strikes Back’, a very decent comeback record filled with traditional heavy metal played at full force. ‘Metal Forces’ is Trance’s new album and it finally features a steady line up: the two Dutchmen, ex-Vicious Rumors Nick Holleman [vocals] and Joris Van Rooij [guitar], founding member Markus Berger [guitar], Thomas Klein [bass guitar] and drummer Andreas Neudi Neuderth. On 23 April the first single ,,Metal Forces” was released, a fast headbanger track and classic Trance song! The other songs on ‘Metal Forces’ are also very traditional, melodic German heavy metal tracks. Apart from the rather “weird” ,,Deep Dance”, which is a kind of urban/tribal metal song in the veins of Sepultura…. The album opens with two up-tempo songs [,,The Fighter” and ,,Troublemaker”] featuring those typical German metal characteristics; catchy choruses, galloping rhythms and very recognizable guitar hooks and riffs. The musical influences of Accept, Priest, Saxon and Iced Earth are obvious, but that does not really bother me.
