Bio:

The Craffs were a melodic hard rock German music group founded in Frankfurt in 1983 and shuffled in 1992 after publishing four albums. They supported Queen in Europe on their 1986 A Kind Of Magic Tour. The line-up comprised Marcus Schleicher (ex-GMT; guitar), Tommy Keiser (ex-Krokus; bass), Tommy Schneider (drums), Franz Keil (keyboards) and Klaus Luley (vocals; ex-Tokyo), and they provided a breath of fresh air in the mid-80s teutonic rock scene, which was otherwise dominated by identikit speed metal bands. Surprisingly, the band sounded more American than German, combining Night Ranger, Whitesnake and Toto influences to great effect. Luley was a highly talented vocalist, using his considerable range and power to carry the melody lines, while the use of keyboards to fill out the sound is achieved in a subtle and understated fashion. They released two excellent albums, but received little recognition outside Germany.

Album:

This has the same cover picture as the U.S. 1989 self-titled release, but it is a completely different album.CRAAFT have indeed kicked off with their last album "Second Honeymoon", because radio-compatible compositions and an excellent production were the guarantors for the fact that the LP was no worse than a majority of the AOR products from the highly praised Amiland. And today? Okay, they kick decently, have become a bit harder, but still put on catchy melodies. This statement is not to be understood as criticism, because the trio simply has the feeling for catchy refrain, a characteristic that is rarely found in German bands. Conclusion: CRAAFT have maintained the quality standard presented on "Second Honeymoon", but sometimes leave something missing the spark, the surprise moment.Good solid hard rock disc, but not as good as the previous two. This is much more direct and without those massive choruses I had grown to love. 'Nothin' we can't take' is worth the price alone with it's awesome driving hard rock riff. Sad thing is that whilst the new sound is awesome and definately great without the huge keyboards, but they also lost a sense of melodic excellence along with the keyboards, I hate to say. Still, very good. When this was recorded at the studio called Wisseloord in Hilversum,Holland,Victory was also recording "Temple Of Gold" there. By the way, this is very sophiscated Melodic Hard Rock which is not like any band in Germany in sound.Arcara,Departure and/or Dare fans are worth while listening.
