Bio:

Formed 1988 in USA.Sweet F.A. was another typical, yet effective, sleaze band to come from the late 80's scene. The band only released two albums, similar in style to the BulletBoys, before disappearing.Steven David DeLong (vocals), Jim Quick (Quiggins) (bass) and Tricky Lane (drums) formed the band in Indiana with the guitar duo of James Lee Thorpe and Jon Huffman (who also ridiculously used the surnames of Thunder and Lightning). The Midwestern boys played their first gig on November 21, 1988, and had a major label deal a mere eleven months later. The group holed up with producer Howard Benson in Atlanta, Georgia to record the debut album Stick To Your Guns. It would prove to be an excellent release, with singles such as "Prince Of The City" and "Rhythm Of Action", but would stall at #161 on the Billboard charts. Disappointed with sales, MCA released the band from their roster in late 1990, as the band themselves released Quiggins. With a new label, the band set to record the follow-up album with session bassist Frank Coglitore. Released in 1991, Temptation was a more mature album, but failed to do much business in recession-hit America. The band hit the road with new bassist Mark Matthews, but with the musical tides changing in the early nineties, the end had arrived for Sweet F.A.. That was until 2007, when the band made their comeback and released an album from the vaults called The Lost Tapes.

Album:

Rollin' in from the heartland, Sweet F.A.'s blast of hair band hysteria finds the quartet crossing the Van Roth inspired Bulletboys with Taime Downe vocals and Texas sleaze bangers Dangerous Toys throughout their second album, Temptation. Tossing in hints of funk, the Howard Benson produced release from 1991, is a weekend blast of party rock. The three-minute short rockin' shot of "Bad Boy" opens the disc, which is chased by the cool groove of the title track. Sweet F.A. waste little time getting into a the obligatory ballad with "Your Love", which pales in comparison to the six-minute slow burn of "Paralyzed (By You)" that shows up later on the LP.A cajun intro pulls "Storm Is Movin' In" along, while the F.A. four send out the hyper rockin' "Vices" in a heated take. "Please Me Please" is derivative Hollyrock hit 'n' run scuz. It's back to a funked out lean on "Liquid Emotion". "1800 Ta Kill Ya Sunrise" opens with spanish guitars before the play-on-words rocker dives headlong into Faster Pussycat. The boys pay tribute to their home turf with "Indiana Heart" which bleeds into the album closer, "Reckless".I saw this band live a bunch of times and they always rocked the house. This album is no exception. If you took a lot of the songs here and put them on their "Stick to your Guns" album they would not seem out of place at all. If you haven't treated yourself to the first album then get it first. You will crave more, then pick this up! Tons of great riffs and hooks in all their heavier material with tenderness and feeling in the heartfelt ballads such as "Indiana Heart" and what surely would have been a huge radio hit had it not been for the grunge movement taking over at the time, "Your Love", This is one of those bands that had they come out a few years earlier would have been HUGE.A good release, in my opinion, that reminds the glory days of Sleaze. Ok, it doesn't sound really original, but if you are searching for an honest release of those days, you can find some nice riffs and good chorus.
